Yeah that was a pretty strong comment. Don’t think it means anything more than Brodie knowing that he wasn’t performing at his best and wanting to rectify that in 2021. It was certainly a very strong way to say that he wants to reach his potential.

Think like most players at Collingwood that Struggled in the Bubble

Interesting wording from Bucks about Grundy being one of the players coming back early. He said something like how Brodie would be keen to put the 2020 season behind him and "make amends." Would have loved to ask him to clarify what he meant by that.
Bucks kind of touched on this that certain players didn’t cope well in the Hub. While he didn’t name players who struggled, it’s a good assumption that Grundy was probably one of them.

‘Respecting the review process’ with Lumumba.

What else can you say? Admit that he was right all along and all us colonialists are in fact suffering from “the psychosis of white supremacy”? Let the review continue and let’s find out all the facts, no further comments required

“So I won’t be handing off a hospital handball, that is why I’m making this announcement tonight, to give interested parties or more to the point people we are interested in, time to get their affairs in order and for me and my board to have the opportunity of providing a Barack Obama style transition rather than a Donald Trump experience."

He seems to think spying on an incoming presidential team is the right way to transition. That was the Obama style. McGuire continually injects his political views into discussions which is the quickest way to cause division with your supporter base. So much for side by side.

Just one of the reasons I can't wait to see the back of this purple faced pumpkin headed virtue signaling tosser.

Wasn't Grundy one of the players it was rumoured didn't deal well with the hub?

No comment was given at the forum whatsoever ever about Lumumba (or Beams).
Nothing was said about “respecting the review”.

Even though they previously commented that when the Lumumba review was completed that would make the report publically available to the members. My guess is that nothing will come of this. I very much doubt the report will be released. Or if it does, it certainly won’t happen while Eddie is still president. The clubs wants people to forget about it.
There is nothing positive that’s going to come from it. I have no doubt it is going to paint the club in a poor light with regards to racism.

They can Charge People to go to Vic Park

Hard to imagine that’ll apply to the VFL or VFLW

I’d imagine that it’ll be for the AFLW, which is good news. We want the AFLW to flourish and become successful, and if people are happy to pay money at the turnstiles to see the women play, and that money going towards supporting our AFLW team, then that would be a very good thing.

That line wasn’t actually said but it is clear that one of the reasons for calling for a review is that it provides a shield for answering questions. As you seem to understand, letting the review continue without further comment is what is accepted so that all the facts can be uncovered without disruption. That’s great but eventually more people will question what is actually going on with the review and not accept the ignorance.

I didn’t dial in unfortunately so was relying on previous poster.

I’d prefer that no more Twitter fodder is provided to H so personally no qualms about it not getting raised. Beams on the other hand I’d like to hear the club comment on.

Agree. If the question was “how is the review progressing and when will we get some results” then that’s something I would like to hear

Agree, that was complete rubbish.

PS we want flags Eddie, not social causes.

Ironic considering he was the King Kong man.

So the club gets criticised for not having a presidency succession plan but they do for a coaching succession plan?

I think the problem with Eddie is that he sucked all the air out of any discussion about the Pies. No one else had a chance to talk about the club generally except for bucks and malthouse. I dont see that as good.

btw I was sceptical about the sucession plan because it was obvious that malthouse wouldnt do it.... and buckley didnt want him there. It's hard not to criticise a president who puts together an arrangement like that.... but malthouse left and life went on. The main problem then was that collingwood people wouldnt let it go. I remember the forum here went for years talking bout why they pushed malthouse out etc etc.

And we'll do it again. People will still complain about eddie and he's going...he did the right thing and went out the door... lets find someone who can do a good job and move forward.

I'm thinking an entire year should be long enough for a successor to be identified...
I probably responded to the wrong post but there was a comment about how bad his presidency was if theres not a ready replacement (para-phrasing)

But it's a good idea to have a positive transition and i would trust eddie to do that. I trust that he wants the club to be successful.

Valid points, I guess with Ed his strength can be his weakness given his passion and how strong a personality he is, he generally dominate most discussions.

I think with the succession plan he had the best intentions. Treat Malthouse with respect on the way out and secure the coach who was wanted by NM for the future. A flag scuppered those plans and things havent panned out for Bucks.

But yes, now hes announced his going, hopefully the club can focus on ensuring the right appointments are made and all this noise can settle.

In all, as a member, the forum answered questions l had, so it gave me some clarity particularly with the trading of Ad's, which seemed to be the never ending question, and our TPP. Was interesting to hear that a few clubs are in trouble with their TPP. So maybe we wont be the only club trading out a "big name" player or two in the coming trade periods.
I did like hearing from Bucks that the players have returned in great shape, and have started their preseason a week earlier. Also players getting together, on their own accord, to train in small groups. Very pleasing to hear.

You would hope so after us getting Destroyed in the Semi's by the Cats
