I'm glad that we beat the scum, but gawd that was a very hard game of football to watch.

This screenshot probably says a thousand words:

A cookie for the first to figure out what the highlighted columns refer to.

As an aside I've always been on the Sier bandwagon, but he looks like he is lazy AF out on the field and doesn't look like he a second effort or ability to keep tracking the ball after it leaves his vicinity in him most of the time. That part of the game is well and truly above the shoulders and he needs to improve that aspect of his game very quickly if he wants to remain in the side, as he has the other tools we need as a bull at the stoppages and we'll be a better team for it if he knuckles down and actually works harder out on the ground.
If you found that hard to watch I can't imagine what you made of the footy last year.

Buckley has a big say on what happens he is senior coach. Buckley goes to the recruiters and tells them what type of player or assistant he needs.

Longmuir was out the door before he was offered the Freo job he was on his way to CARLSCUM as an assistant.Longmuir new Buckley would revert back to his defensive game plan and wasn't listening tahts why he thought i am out the door to Carlton before Freo came knocking
You know why he left because Buckley doesnt listen to other astute coaches he likes YES men that's why we are where we are.Have you noticed many good assistants previously lefty because Buckley is too head strong ?????? So Buckley can only blame himself
Wow what a big ol' pile of shit this is

I just got home from the game, and I’ve gotta say this, talk back radio post game was a cherry on top 😂

Carlton supporters ripping shreds off their team already lol. We had to endure weeks and weeks of “this is our year”, “we’re finals bound” after the acquisition of Williams and Saad.. two rounds in, they lose to two arch rivals and they’re already questioning their recruiting and saying how they’ll never make finals if they don’t drastically change 😂

To make things even better, Sirswampthing drops a stat that this is the 9th consecutive season that they’ve started 0-2. Currently the worst streak in the AFL lol.

What a night haha
Fantastic night. Beating Carlton is always the highlight of the year.

To be ahead of them on the H2H record is the icing on the cake.

I’d add the Ruscoe shouldn’t be playing AFL until he learns to at least stick a tackle. I was watching him at the game and he really seems to have no idea. In the last Qtr, Pendles and others were explaining to him what he needs to do and where he needs to stand. When the opposition had the ball in defence, he was looking around trying to work out where he needs to run to.

And I think if Cox can’t play more than 1 qtr, he should be replaced with Cameron.
Cox is a key element in our forward line. When you are having five set shots on a bad night, you are doing okay. If he didn't hit the post he would've kicked 3 sausage rolls. He will kick a bag this year. He isn't going anywhere.

Nothing to complain about really.

Pies played an exciting brand of football and backed in our defence to win the 1 on 1s on the the turn overs.

Moore is special.
Sidebottom made a huge difference.
Adams was on early, he lifts that team.
Pendles well yeah it's Pendles.
Crisp Noble Quaynor all great.
Cox I feel like is becoming more consistent.
DeGoey I'm a fan boy always will be.

Some real improvement, I don't care losing if where actually moving the footy trying to win a game.

This is how we have to play Win, Lose or Draw.

Great night. Nothing more satisfying than beating Carlton and now we've surpassed them in the head to head record.

The first half was terrific. Really loved our ball movement, and the way the forwards were creating space in the attacking 50 was the most impressive aspect of our improvement from last week.

I think going forward into the future, the first half is what the team should model itself on as being the standard we set. It has imperfections, but it demonstrates we can score heavily when we want to and it's far more entertaining brand of football.

Overall, I enjoyed our style of play tonight. We played with more dash and dare, and even when mistakes were made I didn't feel so despondent watching it as players were willing to take risks and make something happen. The intent was strong from the beginning which is all you can ask for as a supporter.

Sidebottom's inclusion was important for us. Really helped structure the midfield and give us that edge, which in turn benefited the forward line getting good delivery. A real shame to see Elliott go down with an ankle injury, so hopefully it isn't as serious as anticipated.

Wanted to see big games from Grundy, De Goey and Adams and all they delivered in spades, which was comforting.

Moore is a star. I think he's our best player now. Consistent, beats his man more often than not, loves taking plenty of marks and I think he's got captaincy material written all over him which is something I didn't contemplate before this year.

The highlight of the night was a lot of us chanting "Colllllllinnnnngwoooood" at the Ponny with a few minutes left and seeing Moore pump up the crowd. Got the adrenaline pumping!

Going to enjoy the weekend sitting back and relaxing now :)

Didn’t need it for that one it was clear as day and I was wondering in the moment whether it was getting reviewed. Not sure why it wasn’t in my notes...
I'm not sure if the boundary line is within the scope of reviews?

I think we're looking good. But Crisp and Bruzzy have to play a lot of midfield this year - can't rely totally on Adams and Pendles.

Cox Kicked 2.3 any forward of ours who is doing that, stays.

HD showed this too...

Pity the umpires aren’t capable of utilising the review when it should be used
Must have been watching some old videos of Bobby Skilton and the drop kick. Now all he needs to do is get it inside the boundary, and he will have a GOTY contender. Oh wait......🙄

Doesn't the channel 7 app make the replay available to stream anymore?

From memory last year it was a 24hr delay, now they don't seem to be making them available at all.

That's kinda shitty. I missed the game. :(
If you need a replay, ping me a DM, and I’ll share a google drive link. Can’t have you missing out bruh ❤️

I have a theory about the scum.

For a couple of decades they indulged the corporate greed mentality and were not above any snidely corrupt act in the furtherance of their cause. They became serial corruptors of the system, taking advantage of the many loopholes within league law to advantage themselves.

Can a sporting organization spend so much time corrupting the system that it becomes part of the very fabric of the club itself?

With all their corporate connections, draft cheating high picks, salary cap rorting and any cheap advantage they can wrangle they still languish in such a lovely manner for those of us who have always hated them.

I am slowly coming to the belief that the club itself in it's very fabric - regardless of the personnel - has become corrupt to the core.

Carlton . . . they may be coming but it's only through self pleasuring roflmfoao.

Lucky Carlton still doesn't know how to win... Pies should have won by more.

The midfield is getting trashed or has gotten trashed last two games and the defensive lineup had to work overtime both games.... Moore is MVP for Pies so far. Would think Pies would have lost both games substantially without him.

The Midfield is a concern... Numbers aside... They are still struggling to win centre bounces or stop the opposition from getting easy inside 50 entries.... A good team would have a field day as the defenders would just be overcome.

Maybe it's an effort thing... But I'm not sold after two games... It has been an issue for a couple of years if not since 2019.

Yeah so Richmond must be a basket case too eh?
FKIN LOL

He can be dangerous but he needs to play more than 1 qtr. 2 possessions in the first half was ordinary particularly when you see how many opportunities he gets and just keeps getting knocked off the ball

Great win for the 4 points, but more importantly we are now ahead on the overall wins ledger between us and Carl-gone.
Great to see Grundy get back to usual Brodes, who was fantastic in the stoppages all night. I also thought WHE, paid back some of the faith in him, and l thought Sier was good in the stoppages as well, he managed some nice handballs out in contested situations.
Our backline superb again led by Moore, who is in AA form. Adams Pendles, Crispy and DeGoey all very good. I liked the game of both Brown boys, and Daicos just looked class at times.
Hoping Elliott's ankle is just sprained, and he is cleared of any structural damage today...

Credit where its due. Pies were torn to shreds by both fans (including myself) and the media after last week, and they responded with class.

They were ripped for their inability to attack and score, they attacked and scored.

They were ripped for being too timid at the contest, they smashed the contested ball and tackled with intent.

They were ripped for playing Cox too high up the ground, Bucks said that it was because we played too defensive and that when we were able to win the ball and attack, we'd see him play out of the square where he's most dangerous. He was right.

Some other things i noticed:
- Adams was elite. Set the standard from the start. Genuine leader.
- Crisp should play more midfield minutes. Can butcher it, but is also one of our most explosive and damaging players around the ball.
- Both Browns showed more this week. Tyler's second efforts were fantastic.
- Madgen still makes me nervous as fu**.
- Darcy Moore could be the first key position backman to be a genuine Brownlow threat since... forever...

My only hope is that tonight is the rule, and last week was the exception. This is the benchmark to build from.

Well played Pies
Started to see glimpses of Rowdy in Tyler’s second and third efforts
He’s going to make it
