Clarke says Adelaide are not a real football club

To be fair, Port Adelaide have as much history in the AFL as Adelaide, which granted isnt much to brag about to the other. Now when both clubs have been around 100 odd years then start trading "my club has more history/star players/premierships" insults.
So your club has been around the AFL for 100 odd years yes? NO they still 83 years before this will happen. the facts are North Melbourne joined the VFL 1924 then the AFL was started in 1990 so you club has been in the AFL since 1990.

"I quite like the fact that it feels like a footy club here," he said. "That sense of tradition that you got at the season launch, all the old guys getting up there collecting their hall of fame awards, that was nice to be part of. To belong to a football club that's existed for 100-odd years."

That's quite funny actually when you consider St Kilda's history.

100+ years of celebrating individaul achievements, one solitary flag, one of the worse club culture's in the history of the game in the right up until the late 90s early 2000s, a pathetic history of underachievement and financial turmoil until the past 6-7 years. And despite being gifted one of the best lists in the comp due to the priority pick draft system, they still can't get the elusive flag.

Compare this to Brisbane, 3 Flags in their short 20 year history as the Bears/Lions and Adelaide 2 in their 16 year history. I would take that record over St Kilda's 100+ years of underachievement.

Just because something is older, doesn't mean it is better

Port Power fans need to cure this unhealthy obsession they have with the Crows.

Who the Camry Crows? Bwhahahaha they're not a real club.

For the record (not that it hasn't been stated a zillion times ), Port left the SANFL to join the AFL. A new SANFL team was founded namely the Port Magpies. We have won 34 flags in the SANFL before entering the AFL where we've won 1.

Comprehende? No?

Well tough cookies, deal with it.

Don't let the new mascot confuse you birdman.

Had there been no Collingwood you'd be seeing the Port Adelaide Magpies in the AFL. FACT!

In time they will develop the history and tradition that is currently lacking. In a hundred years time nobody will know the difference between a 120 year old club or a 240 year old club.

There are a million links to this you are still wrong.

I have said it before on this board, the reason I prefer computers to Cow's supporters, is that with a computer, you only have to punch the information in once.

When the AFL wanted the first South Australian team to join the competition they wanted the best, they wanted the PORT ADELAIDE MAGPIES!

No, they wanted the first weak bastards that would give them the negotiating power they needed against the SANFL.

Congratulations... that was you.

Having been thwarted by legal wheeling and dealing in 1990 the AFL did not give up and managed to get Port in by 1997.

As a consolation for using you as a pawn, the AFL finially threw you a bone in 97.

When the AFL wanted the first South Australian team to join the competition they wanted the best, they wanted the PORT ADELAIDE MAGPIES!

Thats why the AFL and all the AFL teams dropped Port Adelaide like yesterday's left overs as soon as the SANFL came to the table. They only wanted to use Port as pawn to lure the SANFL into joining, hence the reason why it got leaked to the media so that the SANFL would find out before it was too late.

The AFL didnt want Port in there once they had the SANFL on board hence the reason why they all voted in favour of the SANFL joining.

Also the SANFL was given the second license NOT PORT ADELAIDE, it was the SANFL that made the decision who to award the sub-license to.

Sorry but your post is severely flawed.

Also the SANFL was given the second license NOT PORT ADELAIDE, it was the SANFL that made the decision who to award the sub-license to if they decided to award to another bid then that would have been the end of it, so dont make it out to be that the AFL wanted this and that, it was the SANFL that chose the second team.

Read this in the Age this morning, finally a Crow player of seven years standing agrees with Port Adelaide supporters, that Adelaide has no history and is a manufactured club.
he Saints appealed to him in another way. All his senior career, he had been at new, manufactured clubs.

funny how you read the bottom paragraph as saying this.

our education system has a lot to answer for.

"I quite like the fact that it feels like a footy club here," he said. "That sense of tradition that you got at the season launch, all the old guys getting up there collecting their hall of fame awards, that was nice to be part of. To belong to a football club that's existed for 100-odd years."

it's a simple fact St Kilda has been around longer than Brisbane or Adelaide. achieved much, much less though.

there is nothing pejorative in his comments about either club, but if you had an education worth more than 5 cents, you'd be able to see that.

For the moron above the quote is

Unexpectedly, the Saints appealed to him in another way. All his senior career, he had been at new, manufactured clubs.

So he says that Adelaide is a new manufactured club, no more no less, and the moron above cannot understand that. Education indeed, try reading comprehension.

Are you really that stupid that you cant tell the difference between the quote, and what the journalist wrote to accompany it?
