I can't say I'm thrilled with the rumour of Leppitsch as Head of Football.

The role has more responsibilities (admittedly administrative) than head coach.

There'd be hiring and firing. Ultimately in charge of fitness, training, player welfare. Staying on top of list management and salary cap, mediating between coach and recruiters, mediating between the ceo and coach, presenting to the board. And so much more.

You'd need vision, strategy, leadership, people skills, operational and administration competence.

I don't know Leppitsch from a bar of soap. He was a gun player and has some (assistant) coaching chops. I can't put my finger on it, but something just doesn't feel right with him being proposed as Footy Manager. Maybe I'm not convinced he's got the CV/skills to match the job.

And before you ask, I don't have any better suggestions. Might need to ruminate further on this one.

The way this current board is searching for a new coach whilst Teague is still there has sickened me. It's a basket case yet again.

Too many cooks!

No wonder why we struggle to attract high quality people without the cheque book being our nugget.

#Bluemour not so bluemour

As I have been saying the incompetence of the people running the place will set us back another 20 years. 20 more years full of misery, book it! Power brokers and puppets all with no clue. But it’s all the coaches fault, he was setup to success from day dot! Swap him out and she’ll be right mate. The culture is stuffed. The sad thing is supporters are sold that “super coach” will save us!

Nick Maxwell?

I get where MS3 is coming from. But gee the club is between a rock and a hard place

The review obviously came back that change is needed. Of course they would start seeking out their options.

And for the optics of it. Probably letting teague coach the year out is better than send him packing straight away.

I dunno. Once this review happened eggs were always going to be broken to make the omelette.

It was never going to 100% clean. Moving a coach on never is.

The whole Teague situation hasn’t been handled well true. But you can’t tell me every other club wouldn’t be doing the same thing and looking and asking questions under the table.

Successful clubs would have backed in their coach an surrounded him with the right people and culture. Teague has never had that from our club ! It’s a disgrace. Don’t underestimate what this culture is doing to the players and their performances. But that’s all on the coach!

Be prepared to be pleasantly surprised.

Justin comes with huge wraps. He has worked with and for some of the big names in sports management and coaching.

People as far reaching as John Buchanon (former Aussie cricket coach) rave about Justin's abilities.

No matter the case, I love the long-term big picture announcements thaf are to come in the following weeks.

If you pressed me, honestly I think I'd stick with Teague, change the footy admin that's clearly been substandard and reshuffle the line coaches.

I still haven't seen enough to tell me if David is actually not going to work out

If Clarkson is still a chance.... and Ross and Voss is the back up.

Gee we are set to drastically improve our coaching set up.

No one can argue about Clarkson. But ask the Freo players what they thought of Lyon and his game plan in his last couple of years. Have a look at how their club has quickly turned around since he left, backing in their young coach. If it is Lyon, after the honeymoon period is over, our supporters will be calling for his head, guaranteed!

Without appearing obsessed. Lyon averaged 85,96,100,88,86 points per game at stkilda. At freo he was 89,92,92,84,71,73,70,72 we have averaged 79 this year with an attacking coach. PERHAPS HIS DEFENSIVE style was reflective of the talent.

He speaks well in the media and has shown me has the footy IQ and experience required to take a role like this one.

100%, get the right people around him and structure and he will prove most wrong. This club won’t do that, but hope he has success elsewhere. Unfortunately the people making the decisions at this club are not close enough to it or what building success is. Imagine hawthorn gave up on clarkson after year 2 for a Lyon type, same with Richmond and Hardwick. Sadly this club will go no where with this board and administration in power. Club needs to fix the root of the problem, not switch out the coach!
