No player has yet to officially ask out.

--

Opinion:

Obviously this may (is likely) to change. This is typical for a football club and not in the least bit unusual.

However, you can bet that players are waiting to see how the coaching saga plays itself out. If we do go in the Lyon or Clarkson direction it is just as likely those considering a move will be reinvigorated to stay (and vice versa).

As far as I remember, we haven’t had any drafted players request a trade out since ‘15 intakes.

It’s not all bad down there @ CFC.

This joint is unreal. Even if Dow did ask for a trade the kid has been a starting mid in the side for the last 3 months (even round 5 before hurting his eye) and it’s apparently all the coach who won’t be here next years fault for not playing him.

Dow played 2 games between round 5 and round 14.

He hadn’t missed a game since round 12 where he was a starting mid, it’s now round 23.

He hasn't missed a game but there are certainly games he's rocked up and gone missing.

I actually work in finance mate.......

Why not clear our debt now whilst interest rates are low? It would also depend on what type of debt you are carrying and whether it was making us money. Carrying debt for a stand that is depreciating and no longer in use is not a good use of money. Now we have cleared the debts we can invest in things that we actually get benefit from, such as oh I don't know...a better coach and assistant coaches, better facilities (which we are), anything else i forgot?

I seriously have no idea why people are so against Liddle. So far he has done well.

Ps, people who talk about their financial acumen and castigate others, especially random people they don't know, are usually full of sh*t...

Real money moves in silence my friend

PPS, can you go into more detail about how our membership numbers are not driving an acceptable amount of revenue per member? I'd love to hear about it. Especially since you can "guarantee" that we have under achieved in that regard. I would have thought that our record sponsorship deals would have to be included in those figures, I would also have to assume that our membership numbers and revenue per member would be something that potential sponsors would be across before they invest in sizeable sponsorship deals with us.

Watch out Warren Buffett, we have a financial wizard here

you work in finance...and you can't understand the irrelevancy of 150K p.a. to an organisation that generates 10's of millions of dollars in revenue p.a.?
you work in finance and think because debt has been paid down that has anything to do with the continued cost of carrying bad assets?
you work in finance and don't understand that if you give away free memberships- the actual margin earned on each membership goes down?
you work in finance and don't understand that membership revenue isn't sponsorship revenue?
you work in finance and think 'sponsors' are stupid enough not to be able to distinguish between paid-up and free memberships?

ok champ - you keep working in finance. :drunk:

He has contributed more than many others in most of his games - thats the point.

HavUEvaSeenTheRain is claiming Dow was dropped because he was one of our worst perfomers last week and it is therefore justified - he had 6th most disposals in the entire team. Its a completely and utterly ridiculous series of posts coming from this poster devoid of truth or reality.

According to his original post both Dow and sps have requested trades.

What say you faucon bleu?

His point was that Dow has expressed this with his manager and family - the gist I got was that Dow has not informed the club of his desire to move and is sounding out other clubs.

Unless Ockam is his mum or manager - then he wouldn't know.

Geelong has shown a lot of interest in Dow in the past.

Dow spent equal least amount of time on ground, outside of defenders least metres gained, poor accuracy, several absolute muppet decisions, and you wonder why he was omitted? Seriously?

6th most disposals playing in the midfield? Hooray!

No he didn't.

His post was " Dow has asked to be traded, not sure what will happen, SPS as well. Massive issues at Carlton, new coach isn't going to solve everything. Review into the club is damning, no development of the younger players. Players that asked for teague are now saying that they don't want him, massive, massive".

Now you are claiming that his point was that Dow has expressed this with his manager and family. There is no possible way that this was "the gist" of the post.

I smell a rat.

Not that I'm entirely shutting down the Dow rumours of him requesting a trade but I just don't see him asking for a trade when a review is still in progress and not knowing who the next coach is. We all know DT will not be coaching after this weekend so why on earth would Dow request a trade when he might be thinking "geez, I could be playing under Clarko" etc. The new coach that comes in would 100% be thinking... I've got Cripps, Walsh, Dow, TDK, Stocker to work with.

I've seen it be mentioned yesterday by a poster, they said, even if he did request a trade, he wont be traded before the new coach comes in who could come in and give him the small talk to stay and I believe this is a possibility.

He may want a bigger and/or longer contract. No chance we extend his contract this off season. He may want certainty of his future. Plenty of examples of players going into the final year of their contract and injury has wrecked havoc.

I DON'T work in finance :) but my understanding was that when interest rates are low is exactly when you do carry debt because you can use that debt to generate more income than the cost of servicing the loan.

Also, I know someone who got a call from the club & they offered to roll over his membership for $1. He gets the member emails & shop stuff etc.

He counts as a member in the stats but the club is getting $1 which stands to your point about the revenue per membership being diluted & the membership numbers being very dodgy.

Interesting to hear that there is a lot of demand for the Carlton head coach position. All believe they can turn the club around very quickly. Showing inadequacy of current coaches in their pitches.

Still think its Clarksons' job.

We have very likely young AA defender, midfield, forward, and other former AA not performing this year, average age is young, 2 wins from the 8. I share their beliefs.

OK, might as well put it out there...

Clarkson, Mitchell in
Dow, 2nd rounder out

Zero chance.

Zero chance.

Not enough going Hawks way??? Don't forget we will save them $900K by signing Clarkson!
