He'd be great. Not the player he once was but he's still all class and a fantastic leader.

I don't think we'll do it though.

I am convinced we need more experience and leadership in the midfield in 2022. He's not my preferred option, but there's next to no downside to a move like that.

We have one of the worst midfields in the comp and you say we dont need anything. Has been for a long time. They go get Williams to help fix that but how did that turn out? Very few on our list would be able to break into a good side. Sorry but in my opinion this list has a long way to go to be considered a finals side let alone a GF side with sustained success.

I’m saying we don’t need to ‘rebuild’ which is what your post stated.

Of course we need to keep adding to our squad, which includes bringing in some more capable midfielders. That isn’t our main weakness though - our gameplan and structure is appalling and has directly led to our inability to win games of footy. This is on Teague and the coaching team.

I don't think we will have a process either. We need experience, winning experience, finals experience, preferably flag experience. Ross knows Clarkson is our first choice and if he doesn't take it, he is Plan B.

You don't make Clarkson go through a process. His record speaks for itself. We also know what Ross is all about. It is insulting to get some coaches to join a pool of applicants where they have to answer questions from people who know infinitely less about football than they do. That's the luxury of success.

Hardwick, Clarkson , Simpson , Beveridge all rookie coaches when appointed in fact over the past 20 years- only Malthouse and Mathews were appointed as previously experienced coaches, the rest were inexperienced coaches.

Most in the media said the same about Hodge when he went to Brissy.

You dont recruit these types to be AA players at their age. It is the experience and leadership they bring that is worth it’s weight in Gold.

What Hodge brought to Brissy is still fruitful for them and can never be underestimated for the effects they have on a young group.

Every one of them was an assistant at a club that was enjoying success, we replace the coaches that are sacked with people from the same environment of perceived failure and expect them to do better.

Has been hampered by niggles this year but still averaged 23 disposals per game and had 4 30+ games. That would probably make him the second best in our midfield.

He quite frequently puts on his Instagram story advice for those struggling with mental health. Last month he was comforting JSOS after the Collingwood game for Serge. Yesterday he was by TDK's side after he was knocked out. Just today he made another post saying how grateful he was for the opportunity to play for us.

This kid is something so special, a natural leader and a great person. I hope he gets a rising star nom this week.

Love him. Seems so far from the FIGJAM some rumours about him suggested. Maybe he's actually a sensitive soul who doesn't fit in easily in a testosterone filled environment?

Totally agree and Pendles on a low to medium wage would be a god send for us with our kids rotating through the middle. After that guarantee him a coaching role and it could be an absolute master stroke.
