What about MLG, hey? Gets rid of one of his closest mates to appease his CEO, and a little over twelve months later the CEO is gone. I hope his friendship with SOS recovers.

I’d say that took guts and an appreciation of facts…looks like we are heading back to pre 2015[emoji22]

SOS, might not be in his original role

I'm thinking that if SOS returns it's for a role higher up in the rankings. He's either HOF or CEO. The ultimate revenge maybe?

So?

His last 4 seasons at Freo, which is when he tried to implement a more attacking gameplan, they finished 16th, 14th, 14th and 13th. Thats shocking.

Yet some people here seem to think he'll make us a top team.
he is not actually that defensive.
people don't understand lyons gameplan. its actually most similar to the western bulldogs out of everybody.

essentially he positions the backs in a proactive manner. meaning he trys to position them so they can intercept then attack if necessary. anchored by two or three players who have a good understanding when to roll off or defend.
to maximise this effect he packs numbers around the contest. half backs role up as do the half forwards. this means there is no space and whenever the ball exits that pack, its the definition of dirty ball. this means the backs who are positioned in a proactive manner will intercept.

however his gameplan really comes together when you have a competent midfield surging the ball forward out of that pack. its why he prioritises the contested ball winning midfielder. its why he also trys to defend front half as well when you think about it.
however surging the ball has a weakness if your opposition intercepts. therefore he requires a key forward to bring it to ground think pavlich, riewoldt and mckay.

ross lyons gameplan works primarily at the source. you either win it and surge it forwards or you cause pressure. that pressure will result in you winning the ball back. both scenarios when you think about it is built on a desire and will to win. it also means he requires a good side to implement it. As i said he needs you to win or half the contest in the middle, back or forward. its why he struggles to coach bad teams.

personally once you think about your list, i think lyon is born for carlton. he does have many, well documented short comings though.

Even if he's not coming back in an official capacity.

His absence has been noticed. not even and advocate for us much any more.

What is a boy's club? I mean, Liddle, Lloyd etc aren't girls. Is it because 2 of these guys used to play for Carlton, and for some reason we shouldn't have former successful players around the club because it feels too insular?

Surely, it has to be about ability? We've got players playing conditionally all the time and nobody that knows how to win is motivating them. We see players from other teams who are passionate about their team, club and guernsey. Do we?

It’s about due process. People well within their rights to be reserving judgement at this point.

Of course they are. Others are well within their rights to question what they post as well.

Not sure about Greg Williams as footy director.

I've heard his reports are fat and slow.

I'd like to see him win Bendigo administrator of the year before inviting him back.

Edit: seems I need to add one of these :p
