Why would we need Riccardi? another key forward?
I know everyone loves Carlton and wants to come to us, but strange call given our strong key forwards in McKay and Curnow, and even MvLovin.

Would he be angling for that third tall possie?

As has been mentioned he has played down back for most of this season. Can play tall both ends and given our injuries there is always likely to be a spot available.

Depth. Can play KPF and KPD. Would get a good get if he's cheap.

Not well enough to play it in the senior team and hold his spot though...
Sure. He's shown plenty when he has played though, is a 21yo KPP so not sure if that's a huge deal?

Don't see him as a saviour by any means, especially when he have superior first choice KPPs in Weitering, Jones, Curnow and McKay. But he's definitely a good list acquisition.

Mitch as a forward, Mitch as a defender, Mitch on the bench, it doesn’t matter, Mitch can’t stay fit long enough, to do any of them.

If the club feels, his body is just not up to the rigours of AFL football, then move him on, regardless of the return, if the club feels, he can get his body right, then he has a spot, but his skill is not the issue.

... you realise I've just had this exact conversation already today? Only, you seem to actually be shooting for a gish gallop rather than the other bloke just reacting. Jones is a false equivalence, due to the different list situations we were in then versus what we are in now.

Gowers was delisted at Carlton, and remade himself as a medium leadup tall at WB.

If you fire back yet another series of exceedingly tangentially related questions at me again, I'm going to ignore it.

Made me look up 'Gish gallop'. Thanks, what a cool term.

Is there a facebook or other social media account associated with this sh*t? I would like to provide honest feedback from a a rank and file 10 year member.

Yes, but I'm not linking it. Ignoring them is the best solution.

SOS was pretty filthy that we didn’t even interview him for the role before we appointed Teague, Scott absolutely deserves to be in the conversation.

I agree

If we are comparing Scott to Lyon, they have similarities in their coaching characteristics that play out on the park, tough, aggressive, well structured, tactically sound.

The 2 standout points with Scott, 1) Gameplan has better balance defense V attack and not as taxing on the playing group, 2) The list Scott had at his disposal was inferior to the 2 lists of Lyon

As coaches, it is splitting hairs and we would dramatically improve with either

Both would still need to be surrounded with assistants that would bring different characteristics, as we have seen with Pyke with Longmire

I think Riccardi prefers Carlton because he heard we do 6 year deals with lots of $$ front loaded

He's the exact player a new coach should be trading / delisting to set an example straight away
Set the tone early. If you want to be a lazy non-contributor, you won't be playing in this team and I don't care how much money you earn

Not really, I don't really buy into endlessly arguing on here.

I just think your original claim - that people only foresee a future for McGovern in the backline because of his brother - is inaccurate. He has a lot of attributes of a quality intercepting third tall defender, including marking, pace, generally footy smarts and kicking skills.

Plus, one of our major problems with him is his tendency to get lost forward of the ball. He might benefit from his opponent taking him to the ball, like Jones did. It's a perfectly reasonable proposition; at least as sensible as paying 50% of his salary for him to play elsewhere.

Whilst I’d actually prefer him to take the kick ins over Newman - he scares me - I like him on a wing or HF coming down to be the outlet target. Very strong mark and excellent kick. He’s our best option to move it forward quickly. Would try him as a back though. The ball coming to him could unleash greater input.
I hope Newman is a only a depth player next year...please injury gods.
