Seems Krueger wants to play more time forward and hence considering the move to Pies. I wonder if he's reconsidering his position now that Henderson has retired?

Like everyone, he has to put the work in during the off-season, but I wouldn't be too concerned if we went into Round One next year with a defensive lineup of;

Bews Blicavs Krueger
Stewart De Koning Henry

Still leaves flexibility to rotate others depending on match ups across the rest of the ground ..... Kolo / O'Connor / Atkins / Zuthrie / and with players like Isaac Smith and Mitch Duncan who push back at times to help out.

And I still think they'll look at Gary Rohan a bit more in defence during pre-season. His run and ball use off half back could be 'elite' and might be what we've been missing. Particularly if Clark is likely to leave. If Krueger goes - then it's a raffle between 2-3 others.

JORDAN CLARK WILL BE TRADED TO FREMANTLE.

LACHIE HENDERSON WILL RETIRE.

My source is someone very close to the GFC and Jordan Clark. They tell me that unless something drastically changes, either Clark will request a trade or Geelong will ship him off to Fremantle. Henderson wants to play on but the club won't offer him a contract. Likely to announce retirement rather than being delisted.
Told ya, 1/2. Clark soon to follow

Richmond got that hand by coughing up Max Holmes to us. Pretty sure they’d happily swap picks back with us if we gave them the chance. We could then have a strong draft hand on paper and win the hearts and minds of social media.
They’d chew ya hand off!

We should face it that we went all in and the game plan (and team spirit when under the pump in two final thrashings), were found short enough of the mark that there is no factual support to think we may win in 22 (home and away form is only a qualifier - I'm talking about the finals, our current opponents and the improvement in no doubt of severval teams next year Swans, Tigers) to top 4 ish level). We also have little draft capital to rebuild with low risk. So, we are faced with rolling the dice with whatever we can salvage out of our poor management of our youngsters born out of this all in to win thing.
I think the exact position we are in is a rebuild but we are damned this year to betting on picks in the 30,40 and 50's to produce some high end talent. That is the price right there. The Tigers, for example this year have a big and low risk hand to kick back up again with an elite young group that will forever have our young group well covered potentially. This is the conundrum.
To be fair to Geelong, the thing that screwed your position when comparing yourself to Richmond is that Richmond got Lynch as a free agent and GWS matched the Cameron bid and made you give up a number of first rounders, which would've topped up the young talent coming through while remaining in a premiership window.

GWS are the ones to be angry at.

Clark requesting a trade has been strongly tipped for months now. Nothing at all surprising to see that this is now coming to pass.

As for the suggestion that Geelong will 'ship him off', that's just not happening. He's contracted and the club would be happy for him to stay. However, he will end up requesting a trade and the Cats (as they basically always do) will sort out a deal to get him to his preferred destination.

Neither of these developments (Hendo hanging them up or Jordy taking off) have been anything other than massively probable, based on the way the club finished up this season.

The difference is, while you were guessing I had definitive information.

No you guessed, we see people like you every year.

My source says that the club isn't looking for a new coach so Scotty is here to stay as of now
Lol go out on a limb mate.

Any news on the Mystery Mid?

Not sure Henderson retiring was too big a guess to be fair. And the Clark going has been the strong feeling for most of this year.

But let's roll the dice and load up on your coach news ;) Lots of effluent around AFL circles this time of year --- from a journos perspective, if you throw enough darts, you'll get one near the bullseye. It's generally been fairly quiet on the Cats front apart from the Clark and Krueger stories. We don't really seem to be linked with too many - maybe Brander aside but I'm told that's only fleeting interest and we're only prepared to offer up a bargain basement pick if it comes to that.

My mail is that most of Geelong's activity will be about trading up picks to get into the draft a bit earlier. Sounds as though there's a few clubs that might be happy to play that game. Only other whisper I heard was Menegola and his name possibly being on the table. If we got a reasonable pick back I'd do that deal in a heartbeat. He's escaped the heat that Rohan cops for finals performances - but he's one that seems to save his worst footy for September.

The first 2 I don’t care if they stay on our list.
As for Dal, never seen a more cooked AFL player

Pretty sure an arrangement will be arrived at between player and club. He's cooked - and he's quite comfortable not playing on given the degenerative nature of the injury. Just needs to have terms agreed to between both parties. At least that's what I'm told.

He's related to Dangerfield isn't he? And with Danger being the AFLPA President, I think it will be well managed.

I'm not here to convince you of anything, I'm simply just relaying what my source, someone who is very close with the club and its financial affairs has told me. Not sure what you're salty over but I'm not "guessing" anything.

jeez I hope not, he's a good player but we can't afford to top up anymore
The only cost would be taking one fewer draft pick in a draft teams don't really want to participate in (so in some senses it's a plus)

My concern is he could just be totally cooked. But it wouldn't exactly set us back, not any different to Henderson getting another year.

> While it is expected Cartlon will give new coach Michael Voss the chance to turn around Lochie O’Brien, the Herald Sun reports the No.10 pick from the 2017 draft could be forced out as a delisted free agent.

Could be a good depth player if we lose Clark. Especially considering he would be free as a DFA.
Unfortunately he is a GGS old boy.

Won't make it. ;)
