Hopefully this gets done tomorrow one way or the other and the whole thing gets put to bed.
Had enough now.

It sounds like it might be pick 6 and a swap of future picks ie. our 3rd rounder lets say 42 for Cerra and their 2nd rounder say 29.
What do people think?
I like it ends up being less than pick 6 straight up, or do I have those later pick swaps around the wrong way?

Wrong way around. It will be 6 plus later pick swaps in fremantles favour

Happy with the future 2nd for future 3rd swap.

Always feel like I'm one of very few, but I just don't see it with Freo. Actively expecting them to go backwards next year after losing one of their best players, likely also losing their 2nd key forward and still relying heavily on a mid 30's David Mundy.

Overachieved this year IMO.

It's the reason they want to swap picks in different rounds. If that deal goes through, it is essentially pick 6 and a pick in the 40's, still shy of pick 5 in totality

I don't like it. Next year's draft will be important. Would rather give up 25 in this year's draft (for a F3) than an F2. But we might get in to trouble with available draft picks if we do that.

How is next year more important than this year? We've brought in plenty of young talent the past few years and can't go wrong either way, but I'd rather us back ourselves in to improve and predict Freo to slide. At that point it's just a 6-10-pick downgrade.

Keen to see who Austin picks up tbh - liked both the Durdin and Carroll picks last year.

- this year's crop of players have had very exposure over past two years due to Covid makes it a crap shoot
- restricted player movement due to lower list size, likelihood this will be eased next year

Last years draft was meant to be a crapshoot too - now it's looking like a really decent batch of draftees.

Always wonder if there is some advantage to grabbing a decent Vic kid who hasn't had exposure this year, but was projected to go high and then slipped in the draft - possibly due to some uncertainty about their ranking.

Finlay Macrae comes to mind from last year's crop.

Love Lappin but that’s a crazy comment saying pick 6 which will become 8 is overs for a guy that could be a 200 gamer for us and our 3rd best mid

Completely agree, Cerra is only 21 and is a known quantity

Couple of reasons why clubs exchange later picks is trying to come to a reasonable value and still having a presence in the draft at a reasonable level

Even if we gave up a future 2nd, for a future 3rd, could anyone predict that the player taken in the 2nd round, will definitely turn out better than the kid taken in the 3rd round? Really is amusing

Looking like Cerra and F3 for 6 and F2 - in all honesty Carl have done well and I don't think Freo could have expected more given his contract status.
Fair outcome.

So this year's #6 and a pick next year in the 50s.

Great.

If that were the case we might have gotten lucky with other deals weakening Freos hand a bit when adding a few decent picks they lost a pick that was originally part of our deal.

And by adding some better picks the need for our 2nd round pick because less of a need.
