GWS giving away players for peanuts again, surely a Future 2nd of a Top 4 team would have been more reasonable
Looks like another salary dump for them
Port on the way down and desperate with this pick. 2 prelims are the best they will do with this group.
Dursma, Rozee & friends will have to wait a bit longer for success.

im getting really worried now that we've dropped the ball in trading up with our 2nd and 3rd rounders. lots of clubs are after the dogs pick and i dont see anyone else we could entice for a pick this year.

Once again, worrying over something that has not happened.
We have played our cards close the last 2 years. Let this trade period and the the draft, where we can still trade picks, play out.
You would think we are being run by Greg Miller and Greg Beck the way some are panicking about our supposed inactivity.

Bargain. What are we doing?

May be a bargain from a pick perspective, but he has two years remaining on his contract at an amount that we weren’t prepared to offer either Chol or CCJ.

There’s a reason why there was really no suitors and why the Giants were happy to except a future third from a club that made the preliminary final this year.

It’s no issue. We will just do something like trade 38 & 39 for a 2nd rounder into next years draft with Saints and someone else wanting a couple more picks this year. So we move on 4 x picks for 2 x better picks next year.

No I am saying whilst we are in the window it might be worthwhile getting say a Mitchell who is a proven ball winner. Honestly our midfield had a good run but Graham and Bolton lack consistency , Graham in particular could get 30 and the next week gets 12. Dusty is a bit the same in disposal count but he hurts them on the board. Doesn't have to be Mitchell exactly but I am saying whilst we are in that window of having a crack why not go for a proven midfielder who you know will get 25 plus per week and will fix an area of our game being able to get our hands on the ball in the middle.

Here's the problem. If Edwards. Prestia and Cotchi even with extended rehab and time off are as stuffed as you are suggesting (like 13 or 14 games max a piece) chances are we are not going to win the premiership anyhow. To win a premiership pretty well everything has to go right. They still are that important. Getting Mitchell wouldn't change that and bearing in mind he is actually older than Prestia he could fall off the cliff just as quickly as those three and then we are getting into Geelong territory.

Plus you are making the assumption that none of our draftees will have an immediate impact. Smash the draft (and again I know easier said then done, but like I said pretty well everything has to go right anyhow to win a premiership) and there is no question with as many picks as we have a least a couple of draftees will make extremely valuable contributions even from year one, and you are still taking care of the future.

Again nailing the draft offers the best of all possible worlds.

We were a bottom clearance team before this year too. I think 2018 was the only year in the past 5 were we wernt a bottom 2 tram at clearnaces.

Our gameplan was just built around lossing the clearnaces more often than not but then winning the ball back and counter attacking.

Don't know if it's the rule changes, our age, our form, other teams figuring out how to counter it but it doesn't seem to work anymore. You even look at 2020 you could see that plan was starting to be countered but in the finals we suddenly become an elite clearnace team.

We can't have Nank as our best clearance winner like we did this year. We can't rely on injury prone guys like Prestia who is unlikely to play a full season or older guys like Edwards. We need more.

You saw in the grand final the impact it makes to win the centre clearnace. Melbourne won the game in about 3 minutes by bursting out the centre and kicking goals. We saw teams put on 5 mins bursts like that against us all year too. Doesn't matter how good your defence and pressure is if it comes in that fast
Amazingly we won the clearance's and contested possessions in most of our finals wins .So the players we have ate proven at the top level .Not sure why it doesn't happen during the regular season but our finals record is unbelievable in this regard.
We smashed Port in the preliminary final.

A 3rd tall is exactly what we need unless they do a 180 on Josh Caddy and play him in his correct position as a forward. Or play him at all. Especially with Chol out the door plus CCJ.
He'll fit in perfect at Port .
Go missing when finals come around like the rest of them .
2019 GF jog your memory of how good he is .
He's softer than his lookalike Ben Griffiths.

It seems the draft is pretty even after the top half a dozen. I’m not interested in getting pick #17 if there’s a relative blanket over 15-40…. why give up 3 picks for 1? #17 could be a bust, and 2 out of 3 x picks from 38-42 could be guns.

Richmond will not be using late picks. We’ll try to upgrade and use 4 or 5 picks max.

Good get for the Dogs

A free agent? Meaning he's been on a senior list for 8 years? Well, bugger me.

What's the chance we will get to 1000 pages on this thread by end of trade?
Very high.

But it's a bit like the classic Bart Simpson line.
Teacher: "Bart, how many hours of television do you watch each day?'
Bart: "Six ... seven if there's something good on"

Collingwood are going to have to delist up to 5 players to be able to take all of their picks to the draft. If they want to keep any of those players (who are all OOC) then they'll have to redraft them at the end of the ND.

I reckon that if we keep one of our later picks then we should look at trumping them for one of their 'up n comers'.

JAY RANTALL
POS:
Midfielder
Ht 184cm, Wt 82kg, DOB 10/6/01
From Greater Western Victoria Rebels/Vic Country

DRAFT PROFILE Bio, stats, highlights and more

Adelaide is keen to add to its midfield stocks and Rantall, the draft's running man, has bolted into top-25 calculations thanks to his performance at the Draft Combine, where he starred in the endurance tests and set a new record in the 2km time trial (5:50 minutes). There's more to Rantall's game than that, though. The midfielder was a consistent contributor to the Vic Country side, averaging 18 disposals at the carnival, and has shown he can find the ball regularly. His kicking isn't polished but he will work all day. Comes from an elite junior basketball background.
If we do that, then they'll draft Tarrant when we try to walk him to the preseason draft. ;)

Or draft Garthwaite, when we leave him uncontracted so that we can take all our picks to the draft.

He makes Caddy look like Usain Bolt !
Thats absolute rubbish. Have you actually watched him? SPP can burst away from a stoppage, I've never seen caddy do that. He also has brute strength caddy doesn't. Plus he wins clearances and tackles to hurt.

He was 6th in the combine beep test and 3rd in the agility test (As well as equal 3rd in the clean hands test, 1st in the goal kicking test). He's twice the athlete caddy is.

Seriously the kid will be a star of he can realise his potential. Could be a steal for the Eagles.
