UmmmI feel huge sympathy for the perp
look at his life
this is all assuming he didn’t touch a hair on Cleos body of course
I mean, he had her for a while , I’m wondering if at some stage did he bath her? That’s extremely concerning. I hope he stayed his distance.
What are you saying, because he was from a large family, hadn't seen his father in years and raised by his grandmother he deserves sympathy? you gotta be joking, that is almost my life, never once have I considered abducting and holding captive a four year old.
Too bloody much sympathy out there for violent perpetrators that end up with reduced sentences because of the sob stories about their bad upbringing. It has to stop and people need to take responsibility for their actions and not blame others.
I still reckon he has been at the campsite a lot, plenty of practice. I agree if he did this ninja act in a one-off it’s too unbelievableWe've all been distracted by some powerfully interesting side-facts.
Still doesn't explain this unbelievable child-heist from the tent. Was he following social media and planned his time to head up there and remove her? Was he already there? How the heck could he have known she was able to be taken without the parents noticing?
Despite knowing the man now, seeing the dolls, having Cleo returned safely - doesn't explain this unbelievable crime. I'd still be surprised if an SAS soldier could manage it.
Having been through Carnarvon and that northern region (Quobba, Red Bluff, Gnarloo) extensively it is nothing but a blissful oasis of peace. The carnarvon residents are warm and genteel.
It sounds dreadful.. but to have been a fly on a rock that night it all went down? Id trade half me super to know.
Can someone list the main points? I hate listening to stuff. This should be real interesting and might give some tips on how to keep our thread running smoothly and within the legal boundaries so I'll check in.
Cleo case a legal minefield - here's what you need to know
agree he obviously knew the camp site, but some kids are absolutely 'dead' to the world when they are asleep, you can pick them up and carry them to bed from the lounge and they dont even stir in the slightest, or put them in the car to go home and they ask you in the morning how they got there. The perp 'could' have had plenty of practice sneaking around for what ever reason, so this could have played out quite easily IMO.I still reckon he has been at the campsite a lot, plenty of practice. Leaving aside the illegality and the sheer bizarreness of it all, I honestly think he wanted to look after her to the best of his ability. She was his live doll. He kept her clean and fed. But he must have known he'd done the wrong thing and would have been scared too.I mean, he had her for a while , I’m wondering if at some stage did he bath her? That’s extremely concerning. We just don't know that she was kept clean and fed for all of the 18 days.He kept her clean and fed
The plane’s halfway down the coast now. Seems they’ll have a tough time keeping him safe and well enough to face trial. He's already been transported to hospital twice. I think this guy might know a few tricks.
The man accused of abducting little Cleo Smith has caused more issues in custody overnight - as trained riot squad prison guards prepare to take him to a Perth prison.
Terry Kelly, 36, appeared in court late Thursday charged over the alleged crime which has shocked Australia.
In a brief court appearance, Mr Kelly was belligerent and at times abusive towards gathered media.
And having already been transported to hospital twice since his arrest - after self harming why hitting his head against a wall in his cell - Mr Kelly was again disruptive on Thursday night.
That will mean there will be extra protective measures during his transport by plane today.
That plane, a charter Cessna 441, brought four Special Operations Group officers to Carnarvon on Friday morning.
Their job will be to escort Kelly onto the plane at one end and then into prison at the other.
How the escort of Cleo’s kidnap accused played out
‘Thank God he’s gone.’ That was the reaction of one senior police officer as Terence Darrell Kelly – the man accused of abducting little Cleo Smith – flew out of Carnarvon on Friday.thewest.com.au

Is that the defendant's choice though to be tried by judge or jury? A defence lawyer would probably recommend it but I think it comes down to the defendant, any verdict by jury could be challenged as being an unfair verdict due to the publicity and huge public sentiment in this case. Will be interesting to see how this all pans out. There's issues around the suppression of a minor's identity as they relate to charges of a sexual nature but given we already know who Cleo is that will be difficult to navigate through. My guess on this is that there may be attempts to keep the actual charges quiet and from the public instead. (which they may have already done)
There's the same issues of right to fair trial and trying to select a fair and impartial jury, which would be just about impossible with this case it has an even higher profile than the Claremont murders. My guess is if it goes to trial, same as with the Claremont murders, it will likely be judge only.

Being shadowed by a Royal Flying Doctors plane.......

It would be hard for the parents not to speak of it to her. They must have a thousand questions they'd like answers to.
The child seems happy to be back and not traumatised (although we've only seen her briefly).
So much to unpack.
The puc with the doll was him sitting in a vehicle. No beach in sight. It was Bfew that posted about the cronulla photo they had found.Just because he had the location on his post doesn't mean he was there at all. I can post a pic now on Facebook and say I'm in the North Pole as my location. The so called Cronulla pic was a video wasn't it of kid's swimming in a pool? To me that was just a stolen video he used claiming they were his kid's. The pic of him in Sydney and his doll, with a beach in the background looks like pretty dry WA country to me
And I've since clarified in multiple posts in this thread (including my original ones) that my faulty memory had me thinking that the one that was of a Cronulla beach sea pool and Bay coastline had the accused in the picture as well (which it clearly did not).It was Bfew that posted about the cronulla photo they had found.
