lewis Averages 29.6 disposals a game over his career and is 3rd in the league in disposals this year (equal with Kerr). All the while playing purely in the middle. Deledio and Griffen can only dream of numbers like this.

THe whole Hawthorn team average more disposals then any other

Still Lewis looks like a ripper

I'd take neither because they both wern't in the 2003 Draft..they were in the 2004 Draft.

FWIW if the draft was tomorrow i'd take this as my top 10

1 - Lance Franklin
2 - Brett Deledio
3 - Jordan Lewis
4 - Ryan Griffen
5 - Mathew Bate
6 - Justin Sherman
7 - Matt Rosa
8 - Jarryd Roughead
9 - Richard Tambling
10 - Dean Polo
Monfries, Tambling and Wood will be better players than Bate. Bate is built like Tarzan but plays like Jane and another outside player like Russell and Rosa. Rosa, Bate and Russell won't be any better than the other two players in two years time.

And, no, Franklin and Lewis aren't one and two in the 2004 draft. :D

I like Jordan Lewis and think he'll be/is a very good player. However, I still would take both Griffen and Deledio above him as I believe they will be better than Lewis overall in their careers, and not just in the opening 5 rounds of 2007. I'm pretty sure Richmond and the Western Bulldogs didn't pick Griffen and Deledio before Lewis because they thought they would be better than Lewis in the first few game sof 2007, I'm pretty sure they looked at the bigger picture. As for Franklin, big talent, would contend for number 1 and 2 but probably not yet.

If it were held tomorrow would any unbiased fan not take...

Franklin at 1

and

Lewis at 2

These threads are difficult because you will be tempted to disagree because I am a Hawthorn supporter.

Can you be objective for a minute and say otherwise.

Lewis>>>>DAYLIGHT>>>>>Griffen

Deledio would be lucky to be top 10.
1. deledio
2. franklin
3. griffin
4. lewis

Franklin first. There are decent mids in every draft. Toss up between Deledio and Griffin form 2 & 3. Might be clearer if Deledio played in the midfield. Lewis has to be 4th at best. He’s in front of Tabling at present but Tambling’s pace would give him an edge if he actually developed (a lot) in the next year or so. Tambling has a hell of a way to go to be an AFL footballer yet. Sherman looks likely. Rosa will be solid enough without ever being a superstar.

I was always annoyed Collingwood traded pick 7 for 10 and they may live to regret Egan when they may have had Lewis. Egan has done SFA so far and Chad was a spud. Ordinary deal by MM to get a bloke he thought would help but offered more of what Collingwood already had.

I would definitely take Franklin at 1. Historically big men have taken longer to develop and this bloke is already killing em. As for Griffen and Lewis as the Bulldogs i would prefer Griffen because he suits our style of play but i would probably lean towards lewis just bcoz i like watching the hard in and under players

I think that is a reasonable assessment. Lewis is blossoming in the centre and will be elite in a few years. Deledio is a gun and Griffin has been a bit down on last year. From a neutral Saints fan I think this holds more weight than any post from Hawks, Dogs, Tigers or Bummer fan on this topic.

Well, there goes the 1 minute of non-bias already.....

What a tool you must be TGlory. You idiot.

You call me biased? Only diehards would have Franklin and Lewis ahead of Deledio and Griffen.

The majority of the posters on this thread agree.

Ironically, the only ones who agree with you, are delusional hawk fans :thumbsu:

Stats arent everything.

Sure Lewis is playing some alright footy at the present moment in time, but does he have the talent to keep it up for a sustained period of time?

If the draft was held tomorrow, the top 3 would be Deledio, Griffen and Franklin. The order would interchange between certain team needs. In ten years time I think we still look back on those 3 being the best from the draft, with the Shermantor not far behind.

Top ten too hard to call but what I am sure about is that Jarryd 'one arm' Roughead wouldn't make the top twenty

A major disappointment the number two pick but like all the class of 2004 he still has time. (but not much more)

He is a crumber/wingman, not KPP... won't "take longer".

I am biased because I've seen a lot more of Tambling's development than most others (including Tiger supporters) and based on the future in my biased opinion I still think Terry Wallace's opinion on draft day was 100% accurate.

"We took the two best players of the draft"

Remember, Shaun Burgoyne took 4 years or so to develop. I would not trade Tambling for anyone in that draft, but yeah take this post with a grain of salt because I'm biased and a massive Tambling supporter ;)

Wonder how many 36 possesion games and 6 goal hauls (in trying conditions) both of these stars get week in week out

So you'd judge this on a single game performance?

Noting, that both Deledio and Griffen recieve heavy tags every week, while Franklin plays on the Half Forward Flank?

So all of those goals he is now kicking from contested/one on one marking is irrelevent now....right

"Franklin can't mark" = MYTH

As he did on the weekend, he can play and more importantly succeed as a CHF/FF.

Yep, Tool was a good assessment based on your response. Biased yep. Nothin like a simpleton who either cant count or cant put up a decent argument to back up their bias. Firstly, your post never mentioned Lewis and neither did mine so keep to the facts. You said Franklin would go 3rd. You say the majority in the thread agree......NO THEY DONT. If you want to ignore diehards as you put it, go back, ignore all hawks, tiges and dogs fans and count how many in the thread would pick Buddy as No.1. You'll find the majority do not agree with you. Even if you count the diehards, your call is still wrong.

And, just for a reminder of how good Buddy has ALREADY been - look at his average goals per game since rnd 15 last year when he began to step up. And if you're able on afl.com.au, just take a look at the quality of most of them.

Gun draft full of gun players but Franklin is by far the envy of all the clubs.

Interesting, if you were talking purely the 5 games this year Lewis would certainly be in front of Griffin and Deledio.

Mark my words, no one has mentioned him yet but in three years time could be the best of the lot

Cameron Wood from the Lions.
