Owies is now one of my favourite players.

Feels like he is one that will fly under the radar of the media and most opposition fans and coaches, which is fine by me, cause he just brings so much energy and zest to our forward line which I think rubs off on his teammates.

And in line with LOB's really decent and encouraging start to the season, do I dare start to dream that we are starting to get this player development thing right after almost 2 decades of ineptitude?

It's the gradual improvement of our lesser lights that will continue to see us win games and move up the ladder.
Spot on Fuddy. Our improved bottom 6 will be as significant as the guns.

Mentioned this last night I think - WB are a team that generally don't allow outside wingers like LOB all that much time and space. And even when he's not under direct pressure, there's typically inferred pressure against sides like that. I actually thought he has some really good moments when under direct physical pressure though, keeping his arms free and finding a handball outlet.

The nature of the game was also such that we were winning the ball in the middle and surging forward a lot, rather than getting out the back and spreading wide. Probably based on the undersized backline we were up against, more value in pushing forward fast and letting the forwards find space than in playing slow and allowing guys like English and Bont to drift back into the defense to help.

That being said, LOB still had 25 touches at 76%, and 6 score involvements despite spending about 2/3rds of the game in the defensive half. As you said, a few shockers, but on the whole a pretty good performance.
LOB is under way more off field pressure every time he goes near the ball than pretty much every other player on our list. Can't be easy.

If there's one things carlton fans should've learnt over this journey it's a touch of patience.
I'm hoping very much we've also learnt some humility.

And I don't mean we shouldn't enjoy this moment, but fundamentally it was hubris that set us on our path all those years ago, and I'll be ****ed if I wanna walk that way again.

Just watching the replay. Didn’t really notice it live, but when Naughton missed that goal from 20 out after the quarter time siren, not a single Carlton player went at him, no one “let him know”, no chest bumps, nothing.

Loved it! No need for all that posturing bullshit. That’s Richmond’s go. I loved that our boys just started heading to the huddle. They’re letting their football do the talking.

It was good to be back at the footy last night. I had expectations of more of the same and the boys delivered.

We could have kicked 100 plus points in the first half. We applied so much pressure and the Bulldogs felt the pinch. It all starts at the stoppages and, I think, there were 11 hit outs to advantage in the first half. Immediately the back six for the Bulldogs were under the pump. McKay played his best all round game for the club. His 4 goals, contested marks and work rate were exceptional. Charlie chipped in with a couple of freakish goals which had me out of my seat. Cripps! It was always about Patty getting in and under but what about his spread from the contest. In the second quarter he ran past The Bont as if he wasn’t there. That tackle on Macrae in the first quarter and conversion from 40 metres. He can’t miss a set shot at the moment. Plenty of others in the first half causing mayhem.

We didn’t look switched on at the start of the third quarter. That lack of pressure allowed the Bulldogs to come at us but I’m not here to talk about the oppo. It was the Charlie show in the second half. He does have an unorthodox kicking style but it worked last night. He was the reason we won the game. He’s a genuine match winner. The footy gods have been cruel to C.Curnow and I’m asking them to leave him alone. Please.🙏

Ash Hansen deserves a shout out too for taking the reigns in short notice and in dicey circumstances, and rallied the boys under Vossy's blueprint and helped steer us to a very important and hopefully cultural changing win.

We should appreciate Ash for what he is giving us, cause given our current trajectory, it's only a matter of time (possibly by the end of this season) before another club snaps him up as senior coach.

Literally just watched this exact moment. Something tells me Voss wouldn't tolerant any of that nonsense

Pitto was 'supposed' to be stop-gap between Kreuzer retiring and TDK developing.

He appears limited coz he's solid and kinda lumbering. But plenty of rucks are lumbering and still effective.

He's growing in front of us, improving his ruck craft, getting much better at ground level and in general play.

He's only 25 and has played a paltry 35 matches. He can and will get better.

Imagine how good it will be when our Rucks can be confidently targeted with a kick out (a big lug taking a grab at CHB/HBF and handing off to a runner would have been handy in that last 10mins)

They forgot to tell Pitto he is stopgap. He thinks its a career move.:D

He's doing great at the very thing we got him in for. Solid, dependable, and improving skills.
Becoming a warhorse that goes for 4 quarters every week.

Pitto will soon surprise the great MK
IMO
I’m more than happy to be wrong and I also acknowledge MK’s time and contribution towards the club
