Review 2022 Mid Season Rookie Draft

That seems absurd given our likely ladder position that we wouldn’t have had a spot available in the mid season draft! Has Lynch even played a game in the VFL? What was the rationale around not having a spot available?
As covered it was a mechanism to get him in outside the soft cap. I thought at the time we were going to play him in the vfl and use in the top side in case of extreme emergency, but I can’t recall if the club said that

I think if greenwood wasn’t available that would have been our spare spot but as he became available and doubts re: Jed surfaced we needed to pick him

After last weekends matches WC are now 40 points (for/against) behind us on the % ladder.

We have Melbourne and the Saints coming up - they have GWS (away) and the Dogs (home).

I would expect us to lose by a combined 180-200 points over the coming 2 weeks - WC will lose by an aggregate alot less than that - probably in the 100-120 mark.

First pick in the MSD is still very much on the cards for us.
Can see media already at end of year, “Priority pick for north? They didn’t even finish bottom! They are joking!”

Another key defender prospect from the VFL is Nathan Cooper.
He’s listed at 195cm and 95kg and is also 23.
Has come through the swans academy and is currently playing for Werribee in the VFL.
Looks to be strong one on one so there’s something to work with.
Given our lack of tall timber down back this needs to be our focus.
Wouldn’t be against picking up both Maibaum and Cooper in the MSD.
Then at the National draft get Busslinger and hope that they all develop nicely once in the AFL system.

Won’t be a mid season pick by north knowing the track record of the club we will draft a light bodied mid that is coming off a major injury .
'He'd be a top 5 pick last year if it wasn't for the leg amputation, we think we got a winner here and he should be AFL ready in a couple of months under our development system' - Glenn Luff.

If not for the 2nd leg amputation he would have been in the No.1 draft pick conversation.
We think long term his handball skills will make up for his lack of legs.

Can’t wait that new sensation jake the peg to play for North hopefully his selection will be signed off by the saviour in the eyes of the board.
Mr BS Paul Roos .

At 198cm and 103kg, Strom is a versatile tall who is a highly accomplished key defender and can also star in the ruck and on the wing.

Unlike almost every other player fighting for a spot on an AFL list during the pre-season supplemental selection period, Strom, the older brother of Fremantle AFLW star Mim, has a professional career of his own away from football.

Strom is a chiropractor who has been working with sporting clubs in recent years, focusing on managing injuries and facilitating rehabilitation
, including at South Fremantle where he has worked with the players.

The West Australian is regarded as one of the strongest men in the WAFL and has the fitness base to come straight in and play in the AFL.

Sounds good, but at 28 years old, not for us.

Depends on how good he is at sports rehab… might be a bargain without playing a game.
So s and c staff outside the soft cap too

Interesting on Florenca. I wonder if he’s had a commitment from West Coast considering he’s already played for them as a top up.

Is he the big fella from Carnarvon?

Exmouth. Has a brother also. Played well in the WA v SA state game
Yeah..
Has been around the mark for better big men in the comp, not sure he’s much better than a WAFL player
