I'm in the 'try and move up in the draft order and use it to select the best KPP, camp.'
IF, and I know it's a big IF, we fix up/ remove a couple of chronically injured players, then another pricey import won't be necessary.
We really only need Gov and Omac to come good and we are complete in this area. (TDK becomes our swingman when Pitto returns)

We can keep all 3 of Marchy Guv and Omac ....they can be the 3 in1 trinity.
Count them as One
Manage them on a rotating basis.
As long as none are injured at the same time it would work.
Meanwhile build up Kemp Young and Boyd...probably get another couple in.
The key is to never be in this position again.
When we are so unexpectedly close to our 17th...to think too many injuries might be the reason and not our coaching and team ability?
Well
It's not only love that breaks your heart is it.
We need a dark navy miracle for the next few weeks.

Let's just combine them to have the ultimate, super, reliable for 6-8 games per year, defender.

Austin is a better chance of joining Her Majesty and Lord Paddington for a marmalade sandwich than signing luring Pearce from Freo, the man that has been captaining the ladder leaders for the majority of the year..

There is mutual interest between us and Amon, but only that. An asking price of around 700 has made the conversations very short.

The wishful thinking of a brother reunion next year is bordering on farcical. Mckay is contracted, happy and injury prone to the extreme, Geelong rate SDK higher than we rate TDK, keeping in mind we turned down a first rounder and change for TDK from the cats 2 years ago.

Club will access the recovery and performance of the KPD’s we have across the next 12 weeks before deciding which direction to go, but the general feeling is our first pick will be used on a young talent and we may look for a cheap, and I mean cheap, stop gap player to fill the void for the development period.
Think more in the Lewis Young/ Liam Jones level of trade/salary value.

Bewdy! Go for a young KPP or 2 and don't answer the phone if Amon's manager rings.

Everything. Here. Is. This.

Great to hear Forty.

Plenty of cheap KPDs around that turn into very handy players...it seems to be a constant position where you can find gems for cheap. Much harder to do for key forwards for example. It's not a complicated role.

Any preliminary names yet? I'd be all for James Stewart as a short term option who can play forward and back. Fisher McAsey if we think he can live up to his #6. Maybe Josh Corbett for a depth forward.

Flynn, Wiiliams WC, Stewart, McAsey, Melican, Stein, Cordy, Himmelberg ADE, Fullarton

If we are looking at cheap, I would target Stein as the defender, Flynn as a ruck/forward, Himmelberg or Stewart for swingmen

Always rated Williams, just slow developing

For cheap, I think we should have a look at that Sam Durdin fella from the SANFL. Previous 1st rounder, has had a good year apparently.

Some good names there.

Stein is getting games under Mcveigh though so might not be as cheap.

Melican seemed pretty good a few years back...not sure what has happened there.

Not interested in Cordy personally...seen enough to say he's just not good. Himmelberg had a good patch earlier this season then went completely missing...has a bit of Schache about him.

Doesn’t make sense IMO. A 2-bit winger, just stick with LOB, Cotters (even Newnes) & develop, you should end up with a better outcome if the coaching is right. A bit Polec like, steer clear & just don’t see anything special from him = wasted target & dollars associated to move (dread a L/T deal to entice across).

I’m all for a classy left-footed winger but nothing to see here. Preferable to get back-up with the likes of Sholl & scour the land for wing possibilities that can be drafted in ala Carmichael via SANFL.

Really hope the STK talk turns out to be on the money come trade time. That is not a cheap contract either.
Only one of 3 wingers (McCluggage, Seedsman the other 2) that made the AA squad last year. The wing spots were given to guys who don't actually play on the wing on a full time basis (Walsh and Merrett). On that basis he's one of the better wingman in the league - hardly 2-bit.

LOB isn't going to make it IMO. Too many blindspots in his game. You can't just drill in composure, smarts and improve his running patterns to baseline. So many parts are sorely lacking.

I like Cottrell, but you don't pass up a talented player because he is sitting on the list as back up. Still a long way to go with his development as well.

Newnes isn't much chop and isn't getting better either. We can set our sights higher, be it development through Carroll or bringing in a guy who is far superior.

Polec joined a poor team, Amon isn't going to be.

We know how negotiations go. Amon wants 750k, club offer 450k and the two parties would meet somewhere in the middle - extend the number of years and/or add performances clauses etc. That was the basis for bringing Cerra across.

Would love our Liam Jones replacement to be Liam Jones...

Ahhh...our one remaining true ITK speaks up.

Great work as always.
