We'd be crazy not to take a punt on him (at the right price). He's young and he's still an unknown quantity. Could end up a 200 game inside mid.

If he's not going to be a 200+ gamer for Brisbane then why the * would we want him?
The only thing I want traded in this year is a Solid Ruck.

Outside of that to the Draft we go.

Same silly mistake of thinking has been played out before.
Rather than the Darcy Jones (who is also small) helmet comparison I reckon Jed Hagan could play a Caleb Daniel playmaker role across half back. Looks a smart, skillful footballer despite being listed at 175cm. Would be happy to take him with potentially our third rounder if he’s still on the board.

Ahh, you're one of those. Can only value on current situation.

Ruck. LOL. Not a priority. Again, short term mentality.

Mulldogg: Hagan I am very much in two minds on.

Yes he is very a smart footballer.

However I have three concerns.

1. He is very one sided and I would like to see him use his left foot more.
2. His stationary kicking is good enough, but his kicking on the run concern me, as his kicks often fall short of the intended targets and don't make it on the full.
3. He isn't slow but neither is he quick.

As a general rule I think that if you are short, you need an elite trait to your game and at this point in time I am not seeing that with Jed.

He is one of quite a few that I want to see how he runs the remainder of the season out , for him thats back at East Fremantle.
It might be a hard task but I would be wanting him to force his way into the League side, should he do this then I will review my assessment of him, because as of right now, I see quite a few better options in this draft cohort ahead of him.

I hope he proves me wrong and "blisters" the remainder of the season.

Ah I see you are one of those.

Tell me again why we would want him instead of using the pick in the draft?
Because he's young? Because we need mids? Because he's originally from WA?

Because he has potential. His opportunities in his chosen position are limited because he's a midfielder in a top 4 team.

He may be bust, but also may be a Josh Kennedy.

Conversely, you're claiming he won't play 200 games at Brisbane (if he stays). That's presumptuous. You're not as smart as you think you are.

He's worth a punt.

As for being from WA - only because I think he'll be open to coming because of lack of opportunity. As a rule, I believe in drafting best available based on need, regardless of state.

Robertson is a Larke medallist, plays in a position we are very short on, has a couple of years of development in him, has ties to the club and is at his absolute lowest possible trade value imo.

He is absolutely someone we should be chasing. I see him having a similar career to Redden and thats a really good thing if you can add that without paying a lot. Sure there's risk but if it's a third rounder or 2 third rounders for him i'd happily make that trade.

Agree, like Hagan. We really need that smallish, quick, hardnut that can quell the oppo small forwards - with no Shep nor Cole, they have torn us a new one this season.

He reads the play very well but he's neither quick nor strong and is only 175cm. I'd prefer to back cole in.

What we need to do is **** witherden out of the side permanently.

We can also please see if Gaff will politely move on, even if we pay half his salary. Sheed on one wing, Kelly on the other with Hough and Chesser as outside rotations.

Coming out of contract at the end of the season, 21-year-old Deven Robertson is sparking interest from other clubs and impressed in the Lions’ two-point loss to Gold Coast.

The 2019 second round draft pick had 25 disposals, seven tackles, six clearances and a goal, and is sure to still be in Chris Fagan’s mind as AFL finals approach.

Just to pour fuel on the DevRob debate, he's out of contract at the end of the season according to this. 3rd rounder or PSD....

Brisbane would likely be after the Port pick 28 we gained last year as a minimum but the power of the PSD will have them accepting Pick 38 ..

Out of contract, can't get a game, is from WA and would have a fair pull to come back home. And we'll have PSD pick 1 or 2.

There's not a world where we should even consider forking over pick 28

That’s incorrect. Definitely contracted until the end of 2023. Link to club statement on our board in player profile.
