Ya can't kick 3 goals in a half when things are up for grabs.

We played fluent in the first half, shared the ball and played selfless.

And as soon as the pressure ramped up from Collingwood, we went back to all trying to be the star. Just like the other losses this year, we mix exhilarating football and sublime defence with lapses that cost us. Its not cost us a top 2 spot and possibly top 4, regardless of what further happens.

Also, Goody, one tall forward (Jackson doesn't count as he spends most of his time in the middle) clearly doesn't work when we try to bring down ******* satellites with our inside 50 kicking.

Just play JVR and see if he can at least bring the ball to ground. Our offensive game just isn't built to win high pressure last quarters at the moment.

I agree re JVR. It's time to be brave at selection because I don't think we can win it trying to repeat this same formula.

It's pretty simple really. You just can't play BBB as your one KPF. He needs to be out on the lead, and we need someone who can at least contest a high ball.

Gawn isn't the answer as a KPF, he's just too slow and doesn't have natural forward craft.

Well if you're bringing in JVR (which I think we should) who are you dropping?

Personally, I'm dropping Jacko (checked out, rucking average) for him. Use Gawn primarily and Brown to pinch hit.

Also he can look good at times, but Sparrow just doesn't do enough with the amount of time he spends running through the middle. Admittedly, he had less CBAs tonight, but nine disposals is putrid.

Harmes still the better option at this stage in their careers

His goalkicking is such a momentum killer. That ridiculous miss to the left from 20m out in Q1. How does a 10 year professional miss that badly so often?
Gawn hasn't been making good contact with his set shots for a while now. When his confidence is down he tries to steer them through rather than just kicking through it.

Yeah I'm not so sure about that.

You pull melksham out and add in jvr we just end up slower and with less pressure.

If they're gonna bomb it wide to the pockets every entry, oppositions defence's are gonna love us. At the moment we are so predictable going forward. Tom lynch isn't gonna change it, for example. We need to move the ball with a bit better cohesion than we did tonight.

I can't believe we lost to the Collingwood game plan. It's so obvious what they want to do and we just let them, mostly.
Can make as many jokes as you want, but honestly their game plan is a one trick pony - move the ball quickly and kill you on the outside/corridor quickly. Trouble is, we can't keep up with it, twice. Now that's on our coaches.
Nothing changed since the last game. I know we trust our gameplan, but sometimes when you come up against something that is super effective against what you do, you need to counter it. We just doubled down and didn't. Suprise, suprise, we repeated the same mistake as last time.
This loss is on the coaches.

I said before the Freo game that I'd need to see two wins in a row before I believed we were truly back. This is why.

We have weaknesses that can be exploited by teams who take their chances and move the ball quickly. We haven't figured out a plan to deal with that yet.

Our defence got an absolute bath tonight, but that's partly due to the exposure to quick ball movement, and partly because they collectively had an absolute stinker.

If they're a one trick pony, it's a pretty impressive trick. You make your own luck.

Not tricks, Ed, illusions. A trick is something a whore does for money....

We'll probs be playing an elim final against the Doggies/Saints/Tigers, absolute nightmare fuel.
Was planning on coming down to Melbourne for the finals this year, but not a chance I will if this eventuates.

I honestly don’t know how the back six seems to get a pass week in week out. They have been absolutely putrid. Fart sniffer extraordinaires. May, Lever, Petty. Shit, shit, shit and collectively shit.

So we overpossessed and were inefficient going inside. The exact thing Collingwood wanted us to do. Our defenders panicked in defence constantly (that’s curtains for Hibberd you’d think) instead of doing what they do. Did we prepare for this game at all? Our intangibles from last year simply aren’t there.

Had an absolute mare tonight, but has been good since coming into the team. Still a better option than Rivers, Hunt, Bowey and shudders Smith
