At this rate, Cripps will miss the last two games as his lawyer will still be explaining his argument

Carlton trying to beat the suspension with the filibuster. Unorthodox but you’ve got to love the audacity of it.

"there's no basis in the open hearing for the Tribunal's determination that Cripps' conduct was a bump, especially in light of the Tribunal's declaration this was a genuine contest."

alrighty, call it a charge

Imagine calling this QC bloke a w***er, the retort would take 3 days.

He's a contested bull. He backs himself to win the contest, break free from any tackles and dispose of the ball. Have you not watched Cripps play before? It's literally what he does. Never plays the man and has never been suspended or even reported (at any level) prior to this.
Should be plenty of footage of Cripps contesting by jumping and taking a non-mark on chest then.

I think he's been more physical towards opposition players since he became captain. But yes he's about as fair a player as there is going around. Obviously we can't pretend to know the intent of the player but it really does look like Cripps recklessly overcommitted to the contest, because he wanted to make a physical statement as well as get the ball.

He did exactly what every club would expect and want their captain to do, but it's just not acceptable in the rules any more - as soon as the AFL can smell a hint of reckless intent and there's head high contact made, they're happy to throw a ban at a player.
