This is the GWS Mock Draft order for the GWS Board Mock Draft.

Reminder, we'll select 3 rounds - as we get close to that (after a number of bids & matches, the last 'third round pick' will come earlier, I'll assess where we actually finish.

Reminder to tag me into any trades, bids & matches, and I will update the draft order after any bid matches (with an explanation of the matching cost & impact on draft order - based on my imperfect understanding of the AFL rules!). Also tag the next poster once you've selected your player.

I will pin this post & also update selected players as I can.

Richmond offering picks #50 + #58 ( 443 points )
for Adelaide's picks #44 + #68 (421 points )

Crows gain 22 points

I am currently selecting for both teams and see it as a reasonable trade and would accept as adelaide will lose these picks on the father son
But i will wait for Gill (Giant Strides )
to Rubber Stamp the deal

PMBangers did PM me earlier with his selection for West Coast if he couldn't select in time ...

Pick 9 - West Coast Eagles - Cameron Mackenzie

187 cm / 80kg
21/1/04
Sandringham Dragons / Midfielder

"A well balanced and poised midfielder, Mackenzie successfully took on a full-time midfield role in 2022, showing off his keen decision making and stoppage craft throughout.”

Sandringham Dragons midfielder Cameron Mackenzie is one of the more reliable ball winners in this year’s draft crop, producing a remarkable level of consistency across multiple levels to establish himself as a top 10 candidate.

I'll let PMB add to the description & rationale for WCE selecting him.

Over to St Kilda for pick #10.
My profile for Cam on RMC;

STRENGTHS:
  • Athleticism
  • Clean hands
  • Decision making
  • Disposal efficiency
  • Stoppage craft

IMPROVEMENTS:
  • Outside game
  • Quarter-to-quarter consistency

End of the day West Coast need young midfielders and Cam was clearly the best and safest available, whether it's as an extractor from the inside or as a receiver he's one that'll likely play games early as a rotation option from the forward line or backline given he's played stints up either end over the last two years. He's not going to be the only midfielder West Coast take, but someone with his flexibility in role at the higher end gives me more options with my later picks.

Also didn't want to just go boring with all WA kids and go Busslinger here

Yes, Crows primarily interested in the points, so happy that's a :thumbsu:.
Sorry, I've gone to make that change to the draft order and realised that Adelaide don't have pick #68 - they have #52 & #55 apart from #43 (never had a pick that late), so your request won't work.

PMBangers PM'd me his list of choices for West Coast Eagles because he's out today.

He's upset (on Eagles' behalf) that Hollands went last pick.

Pick 13 - West Coast Eagles - Ed Allan

A dual sided and big bodied player, Allan has made the most of his limited exposure in 2022 to show off high-end athleticism and versatility.”

STRENGTHS:

  • Acceleration
  • Consistency
  • Two-footed
  • Upside
  • Versatility

IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Composure
  • Strength

Pick 14 is Melbourne's, which is PMB again. I'll give him an hour to see if gets back on-line before I execute his instructions.

Stay close GWS Goose as Sydney will be on the hook around 5pm, and sydney_gws GWS will be after that!

Pick 14 - Melbourne - Matthew Jefferson

“A tall prospect with enormous upside, Jefferson’s range and mobility make him an aerial threat who needs few opportunities to impact each game.”

STRENGTHS:

  • Aerial ability
  • Mobility
  • Overhead marking
  • Scoreboard impact
  • Upside
  • Versatility

IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Set shot consistency
  • Strength

Melbourne's weakness is in its forward half. Notwithstanding having just re-signed Jacob Van Rooyen, the Demons would be pleased to have another developing tall forward on their list. I'll leave PMBangers to further expand on this selection.

Pick 15 is up, so GWS Goose selecting for Sydney Swans.

Probably slightly earlier than expected, Sydney has a great batch of kids coming through, one area I thought they could add to would be some run off half back.
I think the Tassie Kid Lachlan Cowan will fill that role nicely.

Don't forget, posters, that you can bid on academy and father-son selections! We're in the range that you'd expect to see some nibbles.
Oh don't you worry about that :)

Okay first thing is bidding on Jaspa Fletcher (Brisbane Lions Academy).

No risk for the Lions in this context but might as well get it done.

Rioli2Rioli
R2R had PM'd me earlier that he'd match any bid on Fletcher - I was just giving him time if he'd arranged any swaps, but he did say he was happy to go into deficit and pay the bill next year.

The cost for Fletcher is 820 points. Added to the Ashcroft carryover deficit of 162, that's 982 points carried into 2023. I have checked the points they are allowed to carryover, and this is within the allowance (given what they have, which is mostly not their own picks!)

So, back to you Pie 4 Life for pick #18 now.

Pick 17 - Brisbane Lions - Jaspa Fletcher

“A prospect with enormous class capable of playing on either side of midfield, and kicking long-range goals.”

STRENGTHS:

  • Clean hands
  • Kicking
  • Scoreboard impact
  • Speed
  • Versatility

IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Strength
  • Limited exposure

I'll let Rioli2Rioli expand on this selection in due course.

Thanks mate just got home from the races and appreciate the courtesy

Pick 18 - I would like to offer a trade to Essendon

sydney_gws I will offer you this selection (Pick 18) for your Pick 23 and your second rounder next year. Aka I'm gonna bid on Davey but if you want a selection before that bid, then I want to regain a second rounder next year.

O
Ok, the trade can be made.
Approved: Collingwood pick #18 is traded to Essendon for pick #24 (Pushed back by the Fletcher bid/match) and 2023 Round 2 selection.

sydney_gws you're up to select for Bombers!
