Easy to forget that he's still only 22 years old, I mean he wouldn't be the first 22 year old to be lacking motivation. I'm sure he'll be in for a rude shock if he doesn't maintain standards under Clarko so I'll back him in to kick into gear when push comes to shove and start playing to his potential.

Geez, must be incredibly tough to get motivated for the youth of today, earning near 7 figures playing a game you surely love 4 years out of school.....what does that say for the majority who've busted their nuts working multiple part time jobs to fund uni, then lumped with a massive HECS bill and slaving away into and relatively meaningless jobs the rest of their life to hopefully pay off the mortgage and have an ok retirement. Motivating stuff!

One of my teachers used to say....and yes a catholic school, and yes a nun...."The Devil makes work for idle hands"......perhaps some truth in that, too much spare time. Reckon there's a lot to be said for players having a side gig, studying a uni degree part time, or doing a trade.

They need to.
Connors is big on this.
I’ve criticized him in the past but bloody hell he hammers to players the importance of taking on a trade or studying part time just to help them stay focused on their days off, to give them a positive outlet away from the game and touch wood something to fall back on if they finish up from the game at age 25 or 35.
It’s common sense.
