Data from footywire. To check the draft order see the thread here.

Footywire says: "While we make every effort to keep up to date with player contracts, it is likely that our data may at times be out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. If you find any player contracts that need updating, please let us know using our brand new contract submission form."

Why does this thread exist? It is so little used.

Given that it's Swans specific why not have it on the Swans board where it would likely get more attention?

I'm sure the Swans board already has plenty of list management threads of their own.

Club boards are different from main boards, in that they are insular places designed to cater to the fans of that club... which means they attract plenty of fans of that club, some with inside knowledge or who watch the players train and play every week, and many of whom know each other really well. The same boards are however not welcoming of opposition fans, who can sometimes be infracted if they misunderstand or ignore the rules and expectations of that board and accidentally or deliberately disrespect the club or offend the locals, and the mods are all supporters of that club as well.

Main boards, such as this board, are neutral territory for all fans to talk about all clubs and all players. Your list will not always be viewed through rose-tinted glasses here, but neutrals can express their opinions freely which can make for a diverse and interesting discussion. Being designed for all fans means that there are threads and resources for every club, and the rules require that posts are at least civilised towards other fans, who may not know each other well. The moderation team here is a mix of fans from lots of different clubs, and we try to keep everything fair and neutral for everyone to participate.

As the saying goes "their board, their rules".

Thanks Lore! Super-helpful response.

Unfortunately the Swans board currently have closed the 2022 and 2023 list management threads for reasons unexplained (other than "that's how we always do it"), so posting there about list management is not currently an option (until March).

Yep. Not allowed to discuss the crop we just drafted and definitely not allowed to discuss our potential drafting position for next year.

To be fair we don’t have any list spots left and it’s going over the same things round in circles. Will be open around March.

Why assume we'll go round in circles? There are always developments - someone gets injured, a possible target is re-signed by their club etc etc. Also, someone has a new idea and then people get to respond and have more debate. And, if we do go round in circles, so what? Nobody has to read it.

I always think: it's not too soon for list managers to be thinking about this stuff so why shouldn't we? What's more, the whole AFL industry and media are designed to get us thinking about this stuff year-round as much as possible.

Nothing was being added it was the circle of “we need talls”, “there aren’t any good enough” and round in circles. What is so important that can’t wait till February/March? There’s individual threads for every player.

Their board, their rules. We aren't supposed to discuss moderation on the boards... it's even more tiresome and circular than future trades talk in December :)

You are welcome to send your mods a PM though if you want to discuss it with them. Most mods are pretty open to new ideas if you can make a good case for it, and can explain their reasoning directly instead of talking behind their backs :)

There's a bit of time to go between now and March and we might move on from the post-draft conversation between you and Bloods86 about talls.

I would have thought that the default is we can talk about anything Swans related we like and the onus is to justify when we can't. I would still be curious to hear an explanation that makes sense to me.

Anyway, to move forward and progress the conversation and show how it can be valuable, let me kick it forward:

[Mod note: remainder of post moved to 2023 thread]
