Knew it as soon as stocker was given a lifeline.

*in lol
Oh God I hadnt even thought of that, while I was keen for the guy to get a second chance somewhere, the fact it was the club SOS was going to makes it ****ing hilarious

Holy Jeebus that is soooo bone-headed. I'm a Ross fan but one of his obvious weaknesses is picking and then keeping the right people around him.

Harvey is a good get I think but the rest of crew like Goddard etc seems a bit dodgy. Time will tell on those though so it's only conjecture at this point.

Nothing at ALL will beat this List Manager hire though. Silvagni has done a completely shit job at 2 locations now. Twice he has crapped the bed and he's done it at places where he's had inherent advantages! It's not like he was at North and pushing hard with a bunch of weights on his ankles. All those picks and concessions etc at GWS and he still missed at a TREMENDOUS rate on FA's and draft picks. Then he moves to one of the big 4 clubs, a club he's a legend at and where he can use profile and mystique to recruit FA's plus he's still got early picks and he STILL fills the sheets with crap. Largely because he doubled down on the mistakes he'd made at GWS and traded for those said mistakes over and over!! Not only is he a bad judge, he has hubris by the boatloads.

Unlike Steve Kernahan who had a very unfortunate timbre and inflection in his voice and sounded much less intelligent than he was/is, SOS is one of those rare cases who sounds dumb, and has actually proven to be dumber than he sounds (hello to Jonno Brown there too). Plus he has shown he has an ego of the debilitating sort that could go 10 rounds with the one Sam Newman carries around with him and match it blow for blow.

Ross as a coach clearly deserved another crack and is a guy who's proven he could do it, and could therefore do it again. Silvagni has only ever proven he CANNOT do it and yet here he is with another crack. It's about the dumbest hire I can remember - supplanting Worsfold at the Bummers.

I'm gobsmacked at this. My flabber has been completely gastered.

Other than that I'm not sure what I think.

I'm not a betting man, but is there a market for fringe Carlon players moving to the Saints in the next couple of years?

Look for any he drafted and didn't work out (Stocker already done), then look for any he traded in and haven't worked out so well yet and bet your god dam house on it.

Just from memory I'd be looking at Dow, Boyd, Philp, O'Brien, Fogarty, Kemp, McGovern, Plowman and Honey as prime SOS beef with perhaps Marchbank and Mirkov as potential targets also. I'd bet good cash those first 6 get talked about at some point and more than 2 of those 6 plus 1 other end up as Saints within 2 years.

Dow may as well pick out his locker at the Saints

I have a lot of affection for Ross and want to see him succeed at the Saints (hopefully not as our expense) so I'm concerned these recent hirings are all about Ross having a team of yes men around him.

That's how Ross operates.

Looks like Ross has brought his impeccable injury record with him to the Saints. Another forward has gone down today according to afl.com.au

Somebody give this guy some kind of honorary badge of sorts, this is sentence gold; so gastered (I think you meant gasted, but the cuff knows..) the English language was flabbered. Oxford currently doing cartwheels, it's the most excitement they've had since gobbledygook made its grand entrance like a rhinestone spiffed-up turkey on a Harley

Ross can be criticised for a fair bit, but I don't know that injury is one of them. I think Webber's record with us and then since means we can lay that blame there.

Thanks for the thought though. Your recognition and follow up eloquent prose is more than enough. :)

Let's be clear. This guy belongs in jail, not on an AFL list. To think the club involved has a female president.

"At least one of the women has been provided with a psychologist by the league after being hospitalised as a result of an incident last year."

Which player are you talking about?

Tarryn Thomas

Thanks for clarifying that, seeing the post you're clearing up came straight after my light hearted post I was wondering what the hell I'd done and why I couldn't remember it.

The Thomas thing is starting to look worse and worse, I honestly can't believe the Commission is letting Gil-M stick around. He's stuffed up so much of this sort of stuff and is still trying to manage rather than solve it. The Hawks investigation should have been completed without him around as he could well be involved given his record of cover ups.

Not to mention the fraud Prez of NM who for some reason got bouquets for her handling of the sacking of Noble. She was so clearly out of her depth to me. If that's Eddie Everywhere, Dale Alcock, David Koch, Bob the Builder or someone of that ilk they'd have been hammered for it. She sailed through that and now no one is taking her up on this Thomas disaster.
