Lycett sucks, don't pick him. Fingers crossed he plays out his contract in the SANFL and then gets delisted at the end of the year.

Injury Update | Christian Salem

Salem has been placed on a modified training program.

MELBOURNE’S Christian Salem has been placed on a modified training program due to a thyroid concern.

The defender has battled a similar problem in the past, which impacts the body’s heartrate, blood pressure, body temperature and weight.

Salem, whose history assisted with early detection, has since been working with a specialist, alongside the club’s medical team, in his recovery.

“He will continue to be monitored closely by his specialist and reintegrate into training as his thyroid levels stabilise.”

UPDATE SALEM

Christian Salem appears in doubt to play in Melbourne’s season opener in just over a month’s time after the Demons confirmed he’s battling a thyroid problem

“But thyroid gland problems can be produced by a variety of things… the first thing is the medical staff at Melbourne know what’s worked before so they’ll go down that path and then it’s a real balancing act to get it working just in that sweet spot so that it’s not going too fast, not going too slow.

“That’s particularly the case, early parts of the season when we’ve got some very hot weather because it’s the overheating that’s the big issue.

“In the hot weather, it’s potentially very dangerous to him.”

An overactive thyroid can cause issues with heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature and weight and as Dr Garnham says, makes it harder to perform at high levels.

While there are a number of treatments for Salem, he’ll also need to be confident in his own health before stepping on the field for the Demons.

I notice that SC has Darcy Cameron as injured , with a sub note expected to be available R1-2. I presume they know nothing new. Wish they had diagnosed the English injury as 6 weeks last year!
