Well I assume without Burgo we can't win because he was the sole reason behind the flag and the dropoff so we may as well pack it in.

Now youre speaking sense.

Couldn’t give a flying root who doesn’t like it. Starting to think some issues are relating to our fitness.
We are running out games better than we did last year. Fitness really not the issue.

Who would you say isn't?
What’s the point of answering and getting into a protracted debate about the differentiation of opinion? It’s pretty obvious here that if someone doesn’t agree they just get hostile and it detracts away from any sort of meaningful discussion.

FWIW, the window isn’t shut but we need to make some changes re our starting 22, and effectiveness with our defensive intensity that statistically has idled a bit, as well as the obvious forward line problems that make us look a bit slow. Personally think we have a good 22 that are good enough to win a flag again.

Heaven forbid that I disagree, but I think by and large the differences of opinion in this thread have been stated and debated in the right spirit.

I think it’s fine to have a different opinion but when the undertone of quoting someone else is “how could you have that opinion, you ****ing idiot?” Is where things escalate. FWIW Headless is probably the least likely poster on this site to get ‘hostile’ over a difference of opinion.

Well there’s a few posters that tend to go down that path. Which is fine, but it gets a bit tedious engaging on this board when that’s the default. I don’t care if you disagree, there’s no need for sarcasm. It’s when the disagreements go a certain way that you start thinking it’s a bit like a couple of teenagers having a tough day going through puberty.

It is the internet after all.

I know what you mean, it's much better to have discussions in person.

Sometimes feels like they pretend to be Melbourne supporters and are more like disrupters only……. as much as they like to constantly refer to Melbourne‘s past, a whole decade ago, those days are long gone and continually referring to them is actually quite BORING… actually very boring..
A couple in particular hijacking everything with negative snooze fest… we are a great club and a great side that a dozen other clubs would happily swap places with..…

Your whole schtick is boring nerd.

Interesting response.. me praising Melbourne on a Melbourne board and referencing tiresome fallacies from some posters makes you upset..
The post could be responded to in 2 different ways and you have taken that one..
Like I said, Melbourne are a great club and we have a great team and a dozen clubs would swap places in a heartbeat

We haven’t had the greatest run fitness wise post Burgo. Maybe we overlooked the pre season in 22 too. If you listen to people talk about Burgo they also talk about the philosophy he brought in to. The mental side of things etc. I think we’ll absolutely be able to win a flag without him. In fact he hadn’t won a premiership/championship anywhere else until 2021 as I understand.
We are looking quiet fit this year and the loses weren’t great but I don’t think Goody is trying to brain the first 10 this year. Just build into it and don’t burn players out through the middle etc.

I did see a stat where we had kicked the most goals in red time this year… so clearly it appears we are running out quarters okay..
We looked a bit unprepared and disorganised last week and Essendon were very good…
How we play against Richmond, if we play well, will restore my faith things are looking okay still..
Highest scoring team in the league..Once we tidy up defence a little, will hold us in good stead, especially with some very winnable games over the next month

To the naked eye, we look fitter than last year and we're definitely attempting a more attacking style of football. The games against Essendon and Brisbane were hard to watch, but I at least appreciate that we've been trying something new rather than the slow, safe, grindy style that took us to 10-0 last year before we fell off a cliff. Do we look like premiership material at the moment? No. But if we fail, at least it's not going to be for the same reasons that we failed last year. To me, that's a risk worth taking.
