So we can conclude Training mode, along with single player mode just never existed and they’ve taken us for a ride since day 1 🤣 I swear this mob never fails to deliver on failing to deliver.

I can’t believe almost 6000 posts in a NEW THREAD. Everyone is literally still talking about the same shit. All I read is:

-what’s happening on management mode
-when’s consoles patch dropping, why do we have to wait so long, steam gets updates all the time
-people explaining steams patches can be rolled back
-games been out for 2 months and we’re still missing features promised on launch
-various BA vendetta comments that are so draining and repetitive to listen to
-arguments between people in the BA vendetta club and those supporting BA
- 2 months in and players stills stuck in the mud
-Why do players have such a giant turning circle.

AND SO ON!

this thread used to be so good and informative! Patches used to drop for steam… console folk would come on here, lap up the info on the new patch from the steam crew and hang out to download in the morning. It’s so far from good and how it started that it’ll never go back to how it was in the beginning. Unfortunately.

All people do now is jump on, pick an argument with someone, they will stop then someone else with argue with someone else and repeat. It’s actually depressing coming on here now. For future I won’t be bothering with this garbage anymore, it’s been fun peeps. For now I’ll be only getting on here if there’s a patch dropped as I’d like to see people’s thoughts as us on console now seem to have to wait a while for updates.

Ill be looking at BAs twitter for updates and watching Michaels and boods streams as they seem to be streaming the most regularly when patches drop and are the most enjoyable to watch.

Is it just me or has tactics totally cooked how the AI plays? I'm on console on hardest difficulty so I haven't received any patches since tactics were introduced, but my god it's just not fun to play anymore.

My players are getting space so easily, the AI is just running around in circles doing sweet **** all. Really looking forward to sitting down and playing some matches today. It was at least playable before this, albeit no where near up to standard. Anyone else have this experience?
 
Sure and this is all understandable. But when you promise the world and deliver a lemon you have to expect some push back. We've been promised a lot of things along the way and as it stands two months post release we have a very bare bones game with a critical lack of features + existence of many bugs.

I'm still glad BA have the license and mostly trust them to deliver an outstanding product over time. If we go back to AFL Live, it was received so well because expectations were managed and they delivered what they said they would. Afl 23 has been the opposite. BA set expectations sky high and delivered a game worse than AFL Live.

Anyway all my point was meant to be last night was that it seems like the focus on improving gameplay elements has shifted. I hope I'm wrong because things like being unable to properly aim handballs and getting stuck on the spot when receiving them are game breakers
All fair comments CT. i do wonder why so many posters drank the kool-aid pre-release. No one has genuinely cracked AFL gameplay yet and Ross overhyping the game should have been news for all of a week. This board seems like it is stuck in a loop. Having said that I don't mean to pull you in to sweeping statements about the vibe of the place.

I do notice the most recent Steam patch has made things pretty twitchy. I can't shake the feeling BA are going for gold trying to capture the complexity of player movement (which is commendable and works brilliantly at times) but is currently playing Jenga with a bird's nest of cross dependencies which for some reason has drastic consequences for contested play. Whatever 'the issue' is it's obviously had a massive knock on to the feature set and now several weeks later there's pressure from commitments elsewhere. I'm a believer, I can wait.

Good call. It is hard to follow this thread generally. As you say, it is becoming less and less useful as time goes on.
 
A week since we were meant to hear about managmeent mode updates, and we've only heard an explanation about how the progression system works. Still know nothing about management mode plans. How hard is it to just give a dot point list? Don't put a timeline if they're afraid of missing it. But the least they could do is give us a feature list, 2 months after the initial launch date.

This is 90% because the game is no good. There's no game to talk about because no ones playing it
With AFL Evo 1 and 2, I was playing 15 hours a week minimum for the first 6 months the game came out.

For AFL23, during what should be my peak playing time (first 5 weeks) I have played a total of 20 hours.

Can someone explain to me the purpose of player contracts in the game?
I can't seem to find the salary cap, or how much I have spent anywhere?

Really hoping management mode gets some loving soon!

Not sure if there is a place for salary cap but when you offer a player a contract extension, it shows the players contracted in that year, salary amount and the salary cap. Hope this helps 🙂

This game is not improving. Arguably it is if you include adding features and artwork, but from a key gameplay POV, it’s still a terrible experience.

Every single gripe that has been posted on here since day 1 with regards to the gameplay issues remain.

apologies for the crap quality, but this sort of thing happens far too often and is just controller smashing frustrating.
2 angles of just pure coding bullshit. Tried to play for another 5 minutes but gave up. It’s just not enjoyable.

Was gonna answer this exact thing. I think that’s our only indicatation of it and that’s fine enough. I like that we can check for multiple years. Im close to breaching mine so will be interesting to see what happens - I think I set my strictness for salary cap as low though so don’t imagine anything will happen

So that looks like an animation blending problem.
The bump (and being bumped) animation, blending into a goal kicking animation…

Not all ‘getting bumped’ animations take you to ground, but this once clearly does, and shouldn’t be able to blend into a kick animation.

I’d estimate more than half their goals up until that point in time came from glitches.
Two came from great spoils, which magented straight to an AIs hands, who then became untackleable, always getting a clean shot away.
Another came from a guy I tackled on the 50, who, as falling, pinpointed a 25m “chisler” straight to a stationary and free teammate.
And as always, 2 others came from centre clearances, which I simply could not touch. Tap to midfielder, kicks instantly with zero charge to top of 50, AI on his own marks/gathers, plays on, is untouchable, and goals.

All these issues have been there since day 1, and simply haven’t been fixed.

IMO this game is not genuinely improving in terms of core gameplay and controllability.

This became a thing after they made it easier to kick or handball the ball when tackled, though I have been seeing less of big kicked when tackled, it still does happen. But that was an introduced issue (not day 1)

You’re right, all the day 1 control issues remain, and then these additional coding glitches have been added to the mix to spice things up

I quite enjoyed being able to kick 50-60m goals on the run while being tackled :p

The long bomb handball has been re-introduced as well (granted it's not as bad as when it used to go from the center square to the boundary line/interchange benches) but still ARGH!

Did that look any different in live motion vs how it presented in the replay ?

I've had some goals (mentioned this a few times over the last month) where the in game action differed to what happened on the replay. The "live" game play would show the ball deviating at an insane angle but the replay would show it slotting in normally (or sometimes it would be vice versa, the live game play would show the ball being kicked normally, but the replay would show the ball traveling at a completely different trajectory).

In any case, if there's ever a goal kicked from behind a player, I've seen and have done it in real life, so I'd probably be mighty impressed seeing it in game form :p
