Aren't there two Queensland zones? I could have sworn that was a thing.

National draft can't come soon enough, AFAIC. It feels like we dodged a bullet with the Tassie girls nominating nationally. Probably the same with Grigg. The Lions having the first pick in QLD as well as their own plus access to academy kids feels like a mistake. Probably should have considered ladder position when handing out comp, especially since they delayed long enough to actually do so.

FD is still implemented badly, but at least the bidding system is better. Also, it's less counterintuitive than stockpiling picks in the 30s and 40s like in the men's. I'm still trying to wrap my head around Robertson nominating nationally after nominating FD, though.

There was a Gold Coast zone (as part of the expansion) and if a Queensland player nominates nationally, the Academies can match a bid. But if they nominate Queensland the other teams can’t bid.

I’ve heard Robertson was hoping to go to Sydney by the sounds of it, as that’s where her partner was, but then she got delisted…

So, possibly, Robertson nominated nationally before agreeing to go FD to Carlton? Or was she hoping that Sydney would put in a bid that Carlton wouldn't match? I think I should probably just give up on figuring this one out. Probably not important that I know. It just seems weird to nominate to go anywhere while also nominating to go to one specific team.

I may just be tired, but I think the explanation of what the system is in QLD has me more confused than before. They may implement a national draft before I figure it out. Here's hoping.

I don't think anyone is meant to understand the draft system to be fair. Literally some recruiting teams were in the dark over some rules. Like initially many believed Tassie and NT players could pick a state they wanted to go to (like how some have gone to QLD and NSW in past years) but then they found out it was North/GC or national.

I too hope for a national draft because that is far simpler 😂

Jess Vukic was by Hawthorn. Kayley Kavanagh was an oversight on my list, the only one I missed. She nominated nationally.
