2024 Ladder Predictions

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

I reckon I’ve seen one person predict the saints to stay in the 8 in here, seems every team around, below and above us is improving and yet here we are just being pushed down the ladder.

Adding our two main goal kickers back in the side, we’ve added speed and midfield depth over the off-season, Jack Steele isn’t playing on one leg and is breaking his PBs running wise, half our list isn’t on the injury report as it was this time last year, another year into our younger blokes who performed fantastic last season for us

I struggle to see how we don’t improve, outside perception is we won’t but I can’t see how we aren’t better than we were last season, we are much healthier and we’ve only added strengths to the holes we had last year.

I’ll also add, us being better doesn’t necessarily mean finishing higher than 6th, we could finish 6-8 and still have improved in my eyes.
Suspect my ladder prediction was the one that had the Saints in the top 8 (I've got them in 5th place). Take solace in the fact my 2023 Ladder Prediction was the most accurate of all predictions shared in the 2023 thread. 😃 😊 😀

Add the fact Ross has never coached a team that hasn't finished top 4 in his second year at the helm.

Do you mind posting your 2023 ladder prediction again. I’m genuinely interested.

Most think we're a bottom 4 or bottom 2 team.

The good news is what they think has no bearing on how your team will do.

That's another false claim 🤣

All there in black and white in the 2023 Ladder Position thread, based on position differential for all 18 teams.

Noone was able to produce an example that bettered my prediction, and recall you in there at the time unsuccessfully diverting from fact.

So, go back to the thread and find a ladder prediction that had a lesser position differential but team and prove me wrong.

Put up, or shut up.

Going for something a little bit different...

1. Gws
2.Collingwood
3.Brisbane
4. Adelaide
5. Sydney
6. Port Adelaide
7. Essendon
8. Gcs
9. Hawthorn
10. Carlton
11. Western Bulldogs
12. Richmond
13. Melbourne
14. North Melbourne
15. St kilda
16. Geelong
17. Freo
18. West coast
Careful.

You'll be accused of trolling your own team....

You did a spreadsheet 🤣🤣

And then went searching for my predictions, compared them to yours in another spreadsheet and your own data/results indicated I was closer to the mark

Funniest stuff ever

But you are correct, this is 2024 😅

Yeah. Of course I would be claiming I had the closest prediction if I produced a spreadsheet that had your prediction closer than mine.

Of course....

First post on this pages, if you need reminding:

And you didn't even do a Ladder Prediction. You provided 'clusters' of teams, with Brisbane being the 'big drifter' and threatening me to bookmark your post about Collingwood not making the top 4!

Meh, I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm expecting a similar result to 2012 for us. Flying at the start of the year, flag favourites, then by round 4 or so, the injuries creep in and ruin our season. Hope I'm wrong obviously, but I think this team is just too injury prone to be a top 4 side

Yes, I remember the start of 2012 like it was yesterday....

The injury prone list is also my main knock on Carlton. But I'm told I'm trolling.

This is refreshing after seeing so many ladders, that are basically identical to last years ladder, just with the posters team higher up the ladder 😂

Jesus christ.
And they call Victoria the Education state.

I didn't realise 14 wins was worse than 13 wins.

Page 28 of this thread, post #680.

Richmond in 17th place.
You've made an interesting list there.
Would you change any of it since a few teams have had players pick up niggling injuries, or did you kinda factor that in?

To me, on paper teams like Geelong and Richmond should both be back around the 6-10 mark, but they seem to rely on fewer top line players that if they get injured likely means their season gets sunk.

hard to predict the whole ladder, although i predict one of the 2023 grand finalist might miss the 8 (premiership or almost premiership) hangover. Time will tell which one it is. ;)

Prediction from the poster with the most accurate 2023 ladder prediction:

1. Brisbane
2. Collingwood
3. Sydney
4. Port Adelaide
5. St. Kilda
6. Adelaide
7. Geelong
8. Fremantle
9. Melbourne
10. Essendon
11. Gold Coast
12. GWS
13. Carlton
14. Hawthorn
15. Bulldogs
16. North Melbourne
17. Richmond
18. West Coast

Edited on 9th February after more consideration

This is the best one i've seen.

Soo many here usually just mix the top 8 around slightly and make no changes which never happens.

Normally you have to factor in the guaranteed statistical likelihood that every single year:

2 teams from the previous years top 8 fall out to the bottom 10
2 teams take their place in the 8 with 1 of those teams jumping into top 4 contention from the bottom 10.
Injuries, form and especially strength of schedule factor into this.

He hasn't exactly done this but he's almost done it with the Swans being a fringe Finals team in 2023 making the jump.
I'd swap Crows to 3 and Swans to 6 to accommodate but otherwise nailed it.
