Walsh dominates offensively but also doesn't. Walsh has been terrible defensively. His running hides how often he's lost his man. Since he's been back we've basically been worst in the league at defending stoppages. So let's settle on all of it. Cunners first game back was stillbetter than half the team played. Walsh last quarter losing daicos was horrific. They're both still coming back. Other posters are right. Attention should be on the hewetts, acres, durdins, etc who just don't defend at all anymore. Or for the smalls win ground ball gets
I had Cunners in my bottom 6 easily, better than half the team is a stretch.

Agree. It’s not only that but many were poor. That doesn’t make his effort then okay because others may be worse? I really struggle with that logic

Names like Cuningham Durdin Fantasia Young Cottrell don’t consistently do enough and it hurts us. They aren’t young or inexperienced. Cottrell needs to go back to defensive fwd as he was lost on a wing.

We simply have too many poor inconsistent contributors

Our record with Walsh playing isn't great. I reckon this is definitely a big factor. Midfield is not defending and Walsh is a a big part of that.

No confidence at all after watching the Melbourne game, they really had no passengers and shut down Geelong’s run and spread.

Yep the next 2 weeks are going to be difficult but need to find a way after coughing up 2 games we shouldn’t have recently.

Then you add some ordinary and poor passages of play by experienced players like Acres and Hewett - then its too many and any system of play breaks down.

You’re only as strong as your weakest link and we had too many weak links on Friday.

We can beat anyone. I have no doubt

Issue is it needs to be on the back of great efforts from Cripps Walsh Harry Weitering Newman Acres Charlie

Our top end talent is the best in the AFL IMO

If Gov comes in, I think he takes Fritsch

Petty, Van Rooyen, Turner - Weitering and 2 of Young, Kemp, Marchbank
If Gov comes in he goes to Turner IMO. Therefore:

Weitering to Van Royen
Young to Petty
Gov to Turner
Kemp to Fritsch
Boyd to Kosi

Acres made a couple of mistakes but he was good and has had a great year so far

His contribution week in week out has been fantastic. Hewett the same

Least of our issues

Hewitt was caught this week several times holding on to the ball too long - both in the contest and on the run.

He wasn’t fantastic this week.

Didn’t say he was?

Personally I think he was trying to lift the side and got caught trying to do to much

30 possessions and 5 tackles. Effort was great

Least of our worries

Sorry I must be reading this incorrectly?

“His contribution week in week out has been fantastic. Hewett the same”

Effort clearly isn’t enough.

Hoping he can find his first target next game. I like Hewitt - but he needs to pick up the pace of the game better, especially if the oppo pressure is through the roof.

He had a poor game. The all time greats have had poor games. He would be top 5 in our BnF so far this year. Why are we so dialled in on negatives of certain players after a loss?

I have an issue with his leg speed and kicking and would prefer Kennedy but he contributes every week and his work ethic is first class

Made some mistakes at weekend trying to lift side.

Least of our problems

His poise, strength & consistency is what he brings - but he was a bit one-paced in his decision making this week & these were some of the “moments” that cost us.

Thought Cunners was good in his first game back from a long break, those set up kicks to the Key Forwards were on their own worth his inclusion in the team.
Charlie would have probably gone goaless without that level of delivery, Eli has similar traits.

Gotta admit that I got it wrong with the Fanta support, 1 kick in an entire game is pathetic, but I can see the theory behind dropping Kennedy and replacing him with better transition players.
Maybe replace George with BamBam this week, we are still slooow.
