Said it more than 12 months ago, Boyd would be our best small forward
Agree that he would be a classy addition to the forward line but ultimately I think he's far more valuable as a backline asset for us. If Marto and Jesse can come back in and stay in then that should put our attack back to where it needs to be.

Out: Young, Fantasia, Williams
In: Kemp, McGovern, maybe Ollie Hollands (structurally)
One change to this for me. Durdin very lucky there is nobody else.

If we do that (I think we will) and bring in Martin we will have McKay Curnow TDK Martin all inside forward 50. Cottrell Cuningham Hollands are mid size.

That's a tall forward line
You don’t necessarily have to have McKay Curnow TDK Martin all inside the F50 all the time.

In fact when we’re transitioning from defence to the forward line we’ve had Harry or Charlie take in turns as targets outside the F50. Eg. Charlie’s perfect pass to Cottrell, and also Harry has often worked his way to the HFF/ wing area during games to be a marking target and deliver deep inside the F50.

If Billy gets to play on Kossie we could have ourselves a Wilson Pickett situation… wonder what the commentators would make of that. 😀

I'm not sure he would be. He wasn't on an AFL radar until he moved to the backline. Never impacted enough up forward in the VFL.

I hope so. I want to see more of it

Go look at 2019 Finals series. What GWS best player as a mid. The Preliminary Final against Pies he was amazing in a big upset. Just one example

But I think that the issue with Williams as a
midfielder - people can only ever point to that Prelim final - there is no history of him being able to play to a high level as a midfielder on a weekly basis.

I think Hodge said something like - you might have to kick the next goal but it's doesn't have to be kicked in the next 60 seconds - you can take your time.

(..unless Daicos kicks the winner with 40 seconds to go in which case we are ****ed !!)
He ran straight past Walsh who was ball watching rather than defending. Didn't get near the contest or the man he should have been watching.

That's...let's see, 1, 2, 3, 4 almost 5 years ago. Half a decade out of practice. Can we still count that?

Boyd at the moment is our best running defender, has done some great shutdown roles and is our best ball user and you want him forward?
I said it’d be enticing. In the context of someone of the ilk of Williams, Boyd or Kemp rotating through midfield and/or HF.

No doubt Boyd is doing great down back. But the team might need to be a little imaginative in the current malaise.

I'm all for trying things but never at the detriment of something that is working and vital to our structure. Especially as Boyd has played forwrad at VFL with little impact

Williams is struggling so I am all for him moving
Kemp can't seem to stay in side (which I don't undertsand) so another role may help especially as he is better suited IMO

he was unfit and lazy when he arrived and Teague allowed it. Very different now

rumour has it, if I remember correctly, that he didn't turn up in very good condition?

If he's super fit now, why not give him a run...?
He's definitely fitter but as someone who doesn't thrive on physicality playing as a back flanker doesn't lead to me to believe he'll standup in our midfield with our emphasis on contested possession. He is fitter now but I don't think he plays with as much power as he did before either, he seemed more able to standup in or run through arm tackles but not at the moment.

Don't know if you don't try and he is struggling in defence
