The strike through is players who've re-signed subsequent to the release of the article - not sure there's too many names left that fill me with excitement to chase
There only 3 players I wouldn't mind from that list..

Elliot Yeo
Liam Duggan
Cameron Zurhaar

Chances of Yeo is less than 5%
Zurhaar probably the same , and probably isn't a big need for us...

But Liam Duggan would be very handy... Play as a small defender, that also plays midfield... Average over 24 disposals a game. 27 years old, is in the perfect age for us
Is from Bacchus Marsh as well...

I think Patrick Dangerfield the most likely for us on that list.

I'm still huffing the Perkins hopium.

He hasn't re-signed and his agent directly met with us this past offseason.
I know Twomey says there isn't anything there but that's a conflict of interest with his Bombers fandom.

Outside of using us as a way to get a 6 year deal like McGrath, Parish etc it seems weird he hasn't signed yet.
Until he signs that dotted line he's open to a move.
Perkins signed for two and I don't think he what we need anyway

Looking like another quiet off-season. I fully expect Smith to land at the Hawks. I have no intel there, just my gut feeling. We will have to try and identify young players at other clubs not getting games, particularly mids. However, there is no guarantee they will make the grade and become long-term players.

Ideally we need a couple of mids in the 23-27 age range.

Doubt Zurhaar would be in our best 23.

You may find plenty of WCE fans who'd be happy if any team took Duggan off their hands

Early in the season, I read numerous comments about how the only reason he was getting games is because he's the co-captain & they'd be happy to see him in the WAFL or gone

Seems they don't trust him with ball in hand - probably not a good sign when each season his average clangers & turnovers increase

Not sure how he'd fit into the team

Zurhaars a good player but hes just not a list need, isnt a good enough mid to make it there and Id play Henry and Dempsey over him as that hybrid forward
Only has a spot if Dempsey makes the jump this off-season weight wise and plays midfield next year, but that's likely a 2026 proposition rather than 2025.

Can't see him getting in over Stengle, Close, Miers, or Henry, and then you've got Mannagh in the seconds and Wiltshire who will likely get games if he's fit and shows something.

To be honest, similar to last year, unless we're bringing in mature mids there's nobody outside of that who's really going to move the needle, or be a better option than just taking our picks to the draft.

Guys like Duggan might be handy just with the impending retirements coming up, and could be a bridge option for a couple years until the kids take over completely, but that's all they'd be.

clayton oliver fit that bill, obviously the path to get there is rough to impossible but cant see any full on midfielder that can move the needle

I wouldn't have Zurhaar ahead of any of OHenry, Miers, Close, Dempsey or Stengle for a forward spot. He doesn't have the aerial ability of OHenry, and he doesn't have the running power of the others. The most goals he's kicked in his 8 seasons is 34. Pass.
He is a different player than any of those guys.

He is a pure power athlete. A burst player who can do the amazing, but you need to accept that he will go missing for chunks of games. I have a feeling that in a team that gave him more opportunities to show his skills he would shine. He is absolutely wasted at north in his current situation. We don’t have anyone like this at Geelong, danger is probably the most similar in terms of skill set (clearly danger is a far more accomplished overall player).

Your comment comparing him to o Henry in the air is an interesting one. O Henry has a better chance of winning a high marking situation and crashes packs, but in a 1v1 grounded marking duel against a strong defender I would expect that zurhaar would be more effective than Henry. I am very high on o Henry, and I think he has an huge future, I think his destiny is as a roaming forward with a huge tank and running capacity, similar to jezzas current role. Again, Henry and zurhaar are very different players.

Scott would find a way to use zurhaar effectively. I suspect he would be a burst centre square player, as well as a very effective forward in our set up.

I think he has massive upside if he was in our system.
