Doubt Zurhaar would be in our best 23.
Mmm... the bloke hasn't really put in this year and last year his passion was waning which is understandable.
I think a new environment would do him wonders.
Can play is hard at it gotta a bit of runt in him.
That's 3 ticks already.
Might be a cheap get.
But might be a bit of a bogan from what i hear.
Not in a bad way.
Just who/what it is.

Just from last weekends team Zurhaar is a better player than: Tuohy, Rohan, O’Conner, Neale, Mullin and Atkins and close calls with Duncan and O Henry atm. Madness if you think he wouldn’t be in our team
Don’t also forget that Hawkins, Stanley, tuohy, maybe Duncan are all likely to retire at the end of this season. And cuthrie, danger, Blicavs, Rohan will all likely be gone within 2 years.

Zurhaar has just turned 25 years old 2 weeks ago. He probably has 7 seasons and hopefully 120 odd games in front of him starting next year.

It is absolute madness to think that he would not hugely improve our list.

I dont think he will be cheap. But he will be worth it.

I think Zurhaar could be a good addition to the club who goes to another level in a winning environment. But he could also be a moderately well paid player who is never anything more than a guy who shows flashes of brilliance sprinkled amongst large periods of nothing. So it probably all depends how much you're willing to pay him.

But the issue is that there have been very few (if any) of those types that have left clubs via FA and just flicked the switch to become consistent A grade players at their new home. Most of the best FA pickups have already been A graders before they left (Lynch, Frawley, Daniher, and Danger and Cameron if you count them), or they were good solid players who continued to be good solid players at their new home.

He would be but not the type we need. You'd be solving something that's not the problem

Kinda like, he's a good player but not necessarily the difference player we need?

At the moment we seem to be calling out for replacements for Dangerfield & maybe even Guthrie, a focal point in the midfield & Zurhaar probably isn't going to be that player

He's actually just turned 26 - so right age bracket, but he may not be a need as his strengths aren't necessarily filling a hole

I disagree. They fill a massive hole in our list. Our list is full of competent same-same players. We lack match winners.

He is a potential match winner.

Yes there's gaps in our list but that's more in our midfield, and Zurhaar's strengths are up forward

We don't really have that missing link up forward, and as we've seen this year, we're struggling to fit in the players already on our list the MC are trying to squeeze in

So if we're bringing in a FA forward, which forward does he replace?

I know that there's a higher than lower chance we'll see retirements from Hawkins & Rohan, but it's pretty clear Neale is seen as the next KPD and O. Henry looks like being the third tall forward for the next decade - and Ollie would be the main player he'd be competing against for a spot

If Zurhaar was 5/6cm taller & more that KPF height, then he'd look a more attractive option

Who's left that we've been linked to?

Baz, Yeo, Oliver, McCluggage?

We absolutely need to bring in some senior bodies to bridge the gap we're going to have for the next year or two...but I don't see any of those players as worth going all out from a draft pick POV IMO.

All have issues for varying reasons.

Baz.

Clug signed.

Yeo wont leave with a baby.

Oliver wont happen due to his contract and off field issues.

I wouldnt be against chasing perryman or cumming with taylor signed though.

He is but you need to trade for weaknesses not strength.
Ours are midfield, a support ruck to partner conway, kpf (depending if you rate neale), small defender. Zurhaar is none of those.

Its no point paying him ben mckay level money (which is what it would cost to get him out) when we are already strong for small to medium forwards and have mannagh in the 2s not getting a game on 1/8th of the salary.

What we spend needs to be on our areas of weakness.

You may find plenty of WCE fans who'd be happy if any team took Duggan off their hands

Early in the season, I read numerous comments about how the only reason he was getting games is because he's the co-captain & they'd be happy to see him in the WAFL or gone

Seems they don't trust him with ball in hand - probably not a good sign when each season his average clangers & turnovers increase

Not sure how he'd fit into the team

I like duggan but i dont think he will want to leave there unless they push him out which they wont.

Would easily take O'Connor, Tuohy spot.. plus Duncan playing that defender type roll. I love Duncan but he would take his spot now

There are different ways to build a list. If you are always waiting for the perfect player to fit your exact needs you end up with nothing OR you overpay for that player because they become an obsession.

Call me crazy, but I am all for picking up players who make our list better and will help us win games. Zurhaar is definitely a player that will improve our list. And he likely has more upside in the right environment than just about any other possible recruit out there.

I don’t think he should be our only target, and there is no reason why we couldn’t target him and a midfielder.

Put it this way, if I had the choice between signing zurhaar on an acceptable deal or committing big $$ and long years to a bulldogs midfielder who has been out of form for 2 years, coming off a knee reconstruction and with documented off field issues, well I would take zurhaar every day.

Regardless of whether he is a midfielder or not.
