I worked with a Chilean guy called Jaime (phonetically Hi-may) and he used to get upset that everyone called him Jamie which looks similar but frankly couldn’t sound much different. He would tell people how to pronounce it and they would be like “sure thing Jamie”. I somehow doubt this guy had managed to fight that battle for 21 years growing up in Australia.
