I'd be more prepared to lose Ponter if we had anyone else that can do what she can (sometimes) do. But we don't really have a player who bursts out of stoppages (Marinoff maybe, but she's more of a blunt force object) and likewise don't have a creative forward who can score goals. And she's still only 24 years old. What we need to do is find a way to maximise her talents, rather than getting rid of her.

I get the argument that it could let us access Rasheed. But honestly, it sounds like Rasheed could be a flight risk anyway. And Ponter is a very popular member of the squad. I don't know, I wouldn't complain if it happened but I certainly wouldn't be looking to engineer it.

It's easy to forget that she was in our best few players for the first few rounds this year. She's just in a bad patch of form at the moment, which unfortunately (hopefully coincidentally) has coincided with a more difficult part of our fixture.
Definitely agree with most of what your saying but my argument originally for Rasheed was she would be the one to actually replace Ponter in that role but I think she’ll be better at it within a couple of years time.

Pretty much do you gamble on the roulette table and take the risk? If they don’t win the flag this year are they just going to keep everything the same? It just seems to be another repeat and they seem quite happy to stay on that same hamster wheel.

Also disagree with Ponter being “one of the team’s best” to start the season, she’s had an ‘in and out’ season for all bar the Hawthorn game in which she was spectacular, against Port she had a great start but drifted out of the game at times, the Freo game except for a goal she was poor, Essendon game she was very well held and quiet for the majority of the game but popped up with 2 quick goals in the 2nd quarter & the last 3 games have pretty much been gunk.

Team in;

IN: Tonon, Charlton, Munyard

OUT: Boyle-Carr (managed), Tarlinton, Boileau (omitted)

Absolute garbage selections, Tarlinton dropped is such a s**t move and Boileau looked 10x the better player then Varnhagen is yet she stays, only slight positive is Clarke didn’t press the Waterhouse panic button.

Simply must be a big, percentage-boosting win today. Nothing else will suffice. With a likely loss against North to come, and with Hawthorn currently two wins and 30% ahead of us, Richmond one win and 11% ahead of us, and Fremantle on equal wins and a game still to play, we need to bank big wins now.

We have the second-best points against number, so we don't necessarily need an enormous score. But it needs to be a sizable score, and a miserly defensive effort.

Do Freo still have a game in hand?

This is the last week of the midweek games, so after today everyone’s played 8 games?

Apologies if I misunderstood what you’re saying.

My mistake - apparently I hadn't refreshed the page I was looking at. They don't have a game in hand.

Still, as things currently stand we're a game and percentage behind the top 4. Albeit we still have a game to play, but we also have a match against North still to come. It's entirely possible (likely even) that the current top 4 teams only lose one more match this year between them (when Hawthorn play Richmond in the final round). If results go as expected, we will be relying on percentage to finish 4th.

How are we going to score goals when we've been playing so terribly...

GWS are 16th on the ladder. We also have matches coming up against Collingwood (17th) and Geelong (13th). We need to fill our boot in those three matches to ensure that percentage isn't an issue for us.
