Joe Daniher is my guess. He’s still in his absolute prime and might still be keen to have a run around without an AFL schedule and minimal training. Not sure he’d be keen on working a job right now though. A small private plane from Byron to a regional country Victorian town might make sense too.

From what I understand in the property news, he's looking to offload some prime commercial property around Abbotsford etc. He'll have NW north of $10 million easily. He could live off the interest indefinitely.

Can anyone imagine Dusty working a conventional job? While a lot of ex=footy players without serious qualifications can manage doing a 'Business Development' role (job for the boys), Dusty isn't exactly the loquacious type.

I know Hawkins was finally slowing down at 36, but he never received big money at the Cats (less than Dangerfield and Cameron). He's a big enough name, and arguably it's big enough to entice. Looking at the 2024 retirees list, can't see anyone else who might fit the bill. What about a delisted player who didn't get picked up?

I don’t know what Jarryd Lyons will be earning playing in the SANFL this season, but he could have commanded an absolute truckload playing in VIC country/metro in 2025.

Interesting. Are lower league competitions a breeding ground suddenly for Sheik-like benefactors? I thought players could get decent coin, but this would effectively be an AFL player salary? No disrespect to Lyons (he was a solid player), but why would anyone be willing to pay him in particular that amount?

I don’t think Hawkins would move his family for non AFL footy (or maybe even AFL?) so maybe the ‘private flight’ makes a bit of sense there. Who knows though.
