Biggest free agency priorities: Jake Lloyd, Dane Rampe, Robbie Fox and Lewis Melican unsigned beyond this year.

Biggest contract priorities: Beyond Warner, where the likes of Sam Wicks and Angus Sheldrick land under Dean Cox beyond 2025 could be dictated on their senior output this season. Caleb Mitchell is highly touted internally at Swanland and is at this stage deserving of another contract extension.

How do they figure Mitchell is deserving of another contract extension? He is just over one month into the contract he signed just over three months ago. Yet better players who have shown more to date, like Wicks & Sheldrick, are dependent on their output this year. Very weird.

As for Lloyd, Rampe, Fox & Melican all being out of contract this year, that has the potential to put me in an early grave.

On Mitchell, they do say internally, so maybe they see something that we don't yet? Or it's just media fluff...

If people get so upset by pundits lists and rankings why listen to them? It's honestly weird year after year to see how much energy people invest in getting annoyed at what one person thinks on an arbitrary ranking.

True, but still, I just don't understand how you are only the 8th best poster on this board,

No.4

Ohhhh so that's what people mean whenever they say my opinion's not needed because I'm a no 1.

Wow and all this time I've been taking that to be a negative.

I reckon Harley sounded a lot less confident about re signing Warner then he has in the past there

I don't know why anyone thinks we have a chance of keeping him. He's gone.

Not sure if the Swans official website counts as media for the purposes of this thread, but just noticed that short bios have been added in the team list section for the six newcomers (no photos yet though). Also the bios for players who were already on the list in for 2024 have been updated to take into account last season.

Logan to meet with the surgeon on Monday and have another scan.
Currently doing running sessions, not involved with team training at present
Cox will not rush him for Opening Round.

Cox re Mills "You're talking about a best and fairest and an All-Australian as a midfielder that we didn't have last year. He'll be spending some time straight back in the midfield."

Cox on team flexibility;
"We use players ahead of the ball from the midfield to really give a different dynamic. From Chad (Warner) to Isaac (Heeney), who have spent a fair bit of time [forward], but also (Justin) McInerney, does he go across the three lines [of the ground]? We need to really get some flexibility in our team and the players understand the role they're ready to do."
(Noncommittal on McCartin's role)

Wicks back.

Will be interesting if he plays there. He's very quick. Not sure about his discipline and defensive skills. Like his aggression if he can temper it.

Yep.. Wicks has the pace and aggression to be an excellent small lockdown defender, but agree with you that theres questions over discipline and defensive skills. Id also have questions about his decision making. He seems to rush his decisions rather than be cool, calm and collected.
Yes in that position you often need to make very quick decisions, but they need to be the correct one (even if that means a 40m snap to the 50m boundary )
