Jeez those 3 goals had great ball movement

Don’t wanna bang on about him but Jagga was involved in two. He’s very fast thinking and clever. He reads the play 2 seconds faster than everyone else and it’s noticeable
Might seem strange but his feet move independently.
He doesn’t think through evasion it’s automatic his feet are dancing instinctively as he surveys options for disposal.
Some players think about getting out of trouble then think of disposal.

What did you think of Williams? He was a little concerning to me. Just small things like consistently handballing behind the guy running by while under little pressure. Just seems off.

I thought Williams looked pretty good super fit I missed the the plays you mentioned in my head I marked him as flying.
The one that concerned me was Ollie everything you noticed plus kicking took his mouth guard out threw it in the air in disgust at a turnover out of the back line then repeated it 2 more times missing targets.
He doesn’t punch low balls there straight but floaty and high.
His long kicking into the forward line was better looks to have a bit of penetration with a bit more size

Agree re Ollie 100%. He is also often a little slow hand to foot. The strange thing is he looked okay last year at the end off HB and I think that was because he did not get stuck last man kicking trying to find a free man.

Let's hope that responsibility falls to McGovern, Weitering, Saad, Boyd.

Ollie played at half back a few times in his draft year when he was representing the AIS team - both times he was dreadful. Granted that was when he was still a junior AND was playing against men, but in one game they ended up moving him back up the ground just to find some of the ball. Which is one reason I was hoping we wouldn't take him so high in the draft.

Either way, I'm far from convinced that's his go. Reckon his best position right now is on a wing where he can run his opponent around all day - and if his disposal isn't up to scratch, the ball aint going to go flying back over his head to his opponent about to line up from 35m.

The reality is though is that he's got Binnsy and now Lucas breathing down his neck for wing positions into the future, so may need to add a few more strings to his bow.

I think Ollie will be ok. His effort tends to make up for hand to foot issue.

Not too worried about Ollie down back in general. While I think Elijah would be better suited there my biggest concern is the lack of corridor usage from our backs.

Newman took on the corridor more than anyone we have back there and its no coincidence when we pushed him up the ground more our ball movement changed for the better.

Saad, Ollie, Cowan and Weiters tend to look wide upon first instinct. McGov looks for the corridor but is too inconsistent accumulating to rely on as a main driver out of the backline (might change if he has a less defensive role this year)

Really feel like we need Boyd fit and firing if we're to be able to attack that corridor option as one of our best kicking talents.

Zorko+Coleman
Houston+JDaicos
Blakey+Florent
Whitfield+Himmelberg
Ryan+Clark
Stewart+Guthrie
Amon+Sicily

Just feel like we're lacking a bit in comparison without Newman and Boyd (whatevers wrong with him atm) Hopefully Ollie and Cow can come on in a big way this year or maybe even Billy Wilson who has some real courage with his kicks in the VFL.

After reading through recent posts in this thread I have decided to place a bet on round 1.

Going with a multi of Motlop, Williams and Elijah kicking at least 3 goals each. The only problem with the bet is I can't decide whether to add Fantasia for 3 or 4 goals...

:p :p :p

Don’t sleep on Jeff!

(Think this old bloke has the terminology correct)

With a few of the small forward and high half forwards doing well, surprised I haven’t heard anything really about Fogarty.

Any news on him, anyone seen how he has been going through preseason.

We know vossy and the staff like him and was pretty much a best [emoji638][emoji638] when fit. So surprised I haven’t heard anything on him.

Liked the involvement of a few 'fringe' players like Binns, Fanta and SOSage.

I hope pre-season form influences early team selection.

Ollie Hollands disposal is still poor on that vision (15.22 seconds mark under no pressure). Can't afford turnovers at half back in the modern game. I wonder if Lucas Camporeale will be a viable option down the track. Looks like a great ball user.
