Because Essendon and Gold Coast don’t share a bye im guessing it’s a lot more complicated to postpone that game?
If unable to play at the Gabba or Carrara and the AFL wants the games played, move them to Cairns and/or Mackay. AFL been played there previously. No weather issues up that way.

I'd be more concerned for the poor bloke kicking out if there is a behind.
The ball will fly straight back over his head surely. You'd nearly rather give the goal up to get the ball 90M away from the goals again for a 3 second breather.
I don't think it should go ahead at all don't get me wrong. But there is a part of me that would sit and watch with some level of interest at how teams would play in it.

As they play twice just switch R0 to Essendon home game and play the 2nd as a GCS home game

Put them the game on a barge a sail it towards the cyclone. Team leading at the time the barge sinks wins. Sell the rights internationally, and open up global betting rights. TheAFL could double its takings for the year if they play this right
Would be great entertainment. Players looking up in the air for the ball can also keep a eye out for any flying debris.
Even a handball probably go backwards. Wouldn't be many marks. You'd think the only way forward would be grubber kicks along the ground.

I have been speaking with my sister in Brisbane. She says there's a slight breeze and hardly a cloud in the sky. Maybe why the AFL is not willing to make a decision on what to do. Just the calm before the storm.
