Why do The AFL persist with this Opening round bullshit, start and finish with all teams playing.
We listen to the public, BULLSHIT.

This has nothing to do with Alfred, this is about how do we stop Cold Sober winning super coach, this is a conspiricy.

AFL gives us Opening round of just 4 games nobody wants.
Cyclone cancels game.
so AFL will give us Closing round of just 1 game nobody will want?
True but you have to remember the AFL give every single one of us exactly what we want the rest of the time and thats a giant chol in the rear :moustache:

So which podcasts / YouTube folk are still going around and are pumping out good content?
As in, if you have limited time and can only listen to one mob to speed read a touch, who is it?

It used to be Phantom's Lair, it's now been co-opted and is the official Supercoach podacst, and it isn't as good.

Most of the rest of them are not great IMO, on Spotify anyway.

I find myself listening to AF content in preference to anything else SC apart from the now-official guys (SC bought out their competition and then mildly sabotaged them IMO).

I'd tell you what I reckon about most of the content creators, but it's unwoke lol

And if they move the Suns/Ess game to Rd24 and either team are in line to make the 8, every other team in the 8 get a week off, except for those 2......................is that a good thing or not?
Definitely been cases where the break has gotten teams out of rhythm, at least going off some out of character performances
Reckon the main point is that the aim surely has to be to aim for the most even playing field possible, and that solution would run exactly counter to the idea.
So on exposed form, that’s exactly what AFL HQ will go for, doubtless calling it ‚Date with Destiny‘, with a dwarf throwing contest at halftime and Warwick Capper doing a lap of honour with Jimmy Barnes to make it appeal to a modern audience.

Been bush ‘Earthing’ for a few days. Where does the cancelled games leave us with SuperCoach?
If they move lions vs cats to round 3, which is likely you can now pick lions and cats players without worrying about the stupid early bye.
Neale
Dunkley
WAshcroft
Holmes
Stewart
SDK
Can now all be considered.
Suns vs Bombers play on as normal as they will keep their early bye.

I wouldn’t be happy as a Bombers or Suns fan if I made the finals and missed out on my week off when every other finalist gets the rest.

Not sure what the answer is but I wouldn’t be happy with the game being played in the pre finals bye.

The answer is to change the draw to slot these two teams back in and remove their early bye.

Assume other teams are cracking the shits about their feelings getting hurt so AFL will go for the worst possible option.

This seemed like it might be alright? Preemptively scheduling in the pre-finals bye would be criminal
This was from Johnny Bananas on main board .
I didn't want to quote the post directly in case Johnny isn't big on the SC.

It's a bit late now, but if they'd made the call earlier, perhaps they could have brought Essendon vs Adelaide from round 2 to this weekend, then played GC v Essendon in round 2 and given Adelaide the bye.

Anyway, does the following big switch around work?

R2 present: GC bye, Giants bye.
R2 revised: Giants vs GC at Showgrounds, game brought forward from R15

R3 present: Hawthorn vs Giants in Launceston
R3 revised: Hawthorn and Giants bye, game pushed back to R15.

R4 present: GC v Adelaide at Carrara, Essendon bye, Hawthorn bye.
R4 revised: GC v Essendon at Carrara, Hawthorn v Adelaide in Launceston (yes, two successive weeks in Launy), game brought forward from R14.

R14 present: Hawthorn v Adelaide in Launceston, GC bye.
R14 revised: GC v Adelaide at Carrara, game pushed back from R4, Hawthorn bye

R15 present: Giants v GC at Showgrounds, Hawthorn bye
R15 revised: Hawthorn v Giants in Launceston, GC bye

So for each team in terms of byes,

Adelaids: remains R15
Essendon: no R4 bye, midseason remains R15
GC: no R2 bye, midseason moves R14 to R15
Giants: R2 bye moves to R3, midseason remains R15
Hawthorn: R4 bye moves to R3, midseason moves R15 to R14.

Every club would have specific training plans etc coming in to rd 1. Would be pretty unfair to move a team not scheduled to play to start the season 1 week earlier

SYDNEY will unveil 2024 mid-season recruit Tom Hanily in Friday night's season opener against Hawthorn at the SCG, with star forward Tom Papley under an injury cloud.

Former St Kilda defender Ben Paton will also make his club debut for the Swans after being let go by the Saints last year.

The 19-year-old Hanily has been picked in the 23 for the Opening Round clash, following an impressive maiden pre-season at the Swans.

It's pretty unfair on the four team that are having to changed their plans already no?

Everyone can claim something is unfair in the AFL. Or just get on with it.

I reckon moving games that happen in a few days is a bit crap.(natural disasters excluded of course) But moving a game that is more than a week away has little effect.
