The suppression order is about protecting the victim not the perpetrator you tools. Very common in sexual assault cases. Be very few cases where there wasn't one. Grow up and let the system take care of it

They can both be correct with their behaviours. I mean, how do you know that other judges wouldn't behave exactly the same way as Victorian ones do if they were ruling on cases in Victoria.

Crime isn't unique to Victoria, and yet...


I suspect its because there is a cultural distain towards open justice in Victoria and very little political commitment to enforcing a higher bar for when suppression orders should apply and the lengths judges should go to explain why they're making them.

A lot of supression orders are about making sure there is a fair trial.

Cases can be dismissed if jury members are privy to sensitive or inadmissible evidence. It can grounds for a mistrial.

I’ve got no idea about the inconsistencies of our legal system hence the question.
