Autopsy 2025 AFL Round 3: Saints thrash Tigers

I’m uncomfortable with the idea of drafting a small lockdown defender with an early pick, but boy oh boy do we need another genuine specimen on the list.

If you disagree, have a look at how important Webster was today when it was tough going…
Could Hastie be earmarked for that role long term?

TT looks like he could def be a mid.
Collard was misread by most of us - theres nothing wrong with his attitude or fitness
Hall has a great boot on him
Owens back to 23 form but more polished
A lot to like

Collard in first gear won our VFL goal kicking. Like Sharman his talent rises in a better side.

Geezuz, there are some serious 5 y.o's here wanting to replace Butler in the leadership group & as a forward.
How do people entertain that crap here.
Collard has made you look a bit foolish today. That's alright, I said preseason he was not going to make it. Made me eat my words last two games.
Just take the L and move on, it's OK to be dead wrong about a player.

That's why Bergman is in the radar, Jimmy 33 next year.

So who are you dropping? Collard or Max Hall? Or do you play Butler with all of those, along with Higgins.

It’s a fair question. Butler will need to earn his spot via VFL.
Well, yes, obviously Henry has needed time in the vfl, coz of an interrupted pre-season.
Butler was named in the round 1 team.
Butler has been an outstanding player for us for a period of time.
If Butler is declared fit, his experience is invaluable.
Just like Jones as example.
I'm just over you guys, writing these guys off, over a 5 y.o mentality made up nonsense.

Pretty excited about our young forward line at the moment. Keeler out for Max and its a serious goer.

Higgins looks in career best form. Going at 3 goals a game atm and if that continues, he's every chance to win the bloody Coleman

Owens is just a freaking unit. I said it ages ago, but I still think he is more Gehrig than Koota. Will be even better with Max around to take the double team.

Lancey boy Collard will have some down days for but he knows where to be when there are goals to be kicked. Was also the case in the VFL last year, and it's something you just can't teach

Hall is surprisingly good by foot, and adds a much need forward of center connection into the 50

Sharman maybe a bit rusty, but on the days he brings it all together he looks amazing

And finally Big Max, if he could just get a solid run at it, and become the spearhead he was drafted to be, then we are really cooking with gas.

I LOVE, and I mean love, Jimmy.
No frills, hard as a cat’s head and always 100% committed.

Didn’t see what happened to him but hopefully he’s not out for long.

So, should I watch the replay of this one lads?
I'd strongly suggest about 30 times.

Can't remember the last time we won by that margin.

The score board was ticking over like a poker machine in that second qtr.

It was incredibly enjoyable.

;);)

Yeah has been good in defence, hopefully that is last we see of Cordy who is a liability in defence.

We need to keep backing our young players rather than going with old list cloggers with no future.
Zaine looks the most likely delisting out of this lot. Heath and McLennan will be nervous. Do we just rotate the minimum 3 players out? Wouldn't make sense to delist Howard, Keeler or Schoenmaker. Byrnes, Stocker and Jones would be pretty stiff. Nas and Windy hopefully sign on eventually, and long term.

2 Marcus Windhager
3 Zak Jones
7 Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera
13 Ryan Byrnes
14 Liam Stocker
17 Isaac Keeler
20 Dougal Howard
21 Zaine Cordy
27 Arie Schoenmaker
29 Jimmy Webster
40 Max Hall (r)
41 Angus McLennan (r)
42 Max Heath
45 Liam O'Connell (Cat B)

To be fair, tiges have a lot more first season players and a lot of those Saints players would be closer to 50 games than 0, unlike the tiges.

Still very good signs for the Saints.
Tobie 1 game
Lance 5 Games
Isaac 2 games
Hugo 12 games
Angus 7 games
Max 3 games

Our Kids are pretty good and underrated outside the club

RTB has done an amazing job reinventing himself

You can’t drop either Hall or Collard based on the past two weeks’ performances. Collard has the most upside.

Butler may just be depth.
Ross sounded very pleased with Collard in the presser.

There'll be a lot of selection headaches in the coming weeks, but I wouldn't drop Garcia or Travalgia for the rest of the season now. Just like Ross did with Wilson last year - I hope he perseveres with both Garcia and Travalgia and let's them ride the highs and lows, while keeping their spot in the team. Both look like very special talents and I'd rather see them get games than Jones, Byrnes etc (even if it means we lose a few games).

Keep a collection, in the future former saints players will be able to provide clear evidence that the AFL did NOT protect the heads of StKilda players and are fully responsible for any head knock related medical conditions to StKilda players.

Loveeeddddd Lancey

2 goals including a ripper.
1 poster that could have been a GOTY contender
Another point he should have kicked.

A couple ripper chases.

Love to see it.

Also Wilson with a poorer game but still 20 and a goal.

Oh and my boy Trav. How good are his hands
Lancy's poster would have blown the roof off the dome had he nailed it.

We all thought it was home.

And his first goal....WOW...just WOW.

And did you notice the height at which the ball hit the post......he can hoof a ball ol Lancy boy.

Absolutely rapt for him that he kicked 2 this week and last.

Would do absolute wonders for his confidence.

The Boss absolutely loves him.

Faaark , the AFL lists are too small. We don't have enough spuds.

How much humble pie has been eaten since news of getting Macrae hit the trade thread last year?

I still can't quite get over how many of us you weren't bloody excited as soon as he nominated us.

AA form, and make those around him better.
I thank Bevo in my prayers every night
🤣
