I thought we would possibly start 0-3 prior to the injuries.

The patch between next weeks bye and the mid season bye will define the season imo.

North - Marvel
Pies- AO
Port- SCG
Suns- PF
GWS- SCG
Bombers- Marvel
Blues- SCG
Dees- MCG
Crows- SCG
Tigers- MCG

There's 10 with a lot of very winnable , would be a potential purple patch if we hit the form we know we can and then you are suddenly 8-5 , 9-4 even

Not sold on Hawthorn Brisbane should be there abouts but its tricky to put into perspective our 2 performances.

But we made scoring look incredibily tough in both games in contrast to how easily our opponents countered.

All those games look grindy and tough tbh :p

This is probably the sort of start we needed if we're to go all the way.

We're doing it tough, close scrappy games. We're 1-0 but could just as easily be 3-0 or 0-3. We've been playing in a tough grouping. The bye is timely, Most importantly we've unearthed a lot of undiscovered talent already and seen some other step up.

For the first time this year I actually think we have a shot of winning the flag.

The standard of footy early doors is woeful, well behind last year. Voss said after the Carlton loss that it’s about the contest first and I feel we are trying hard in this area. Look at our lions match vs the grand final.

If we keep going hard at the contest and reward players who don’t shirk the hard ball gets, that’s a strong base to build from.

Our depth are going to be way better than our depth last year cos the young kids are getting multiple games in a row due to injuries.

Then we will start getting KPP’s back from injury progressively. If we insert them in and rotate the squad I tell you we might be finishing hard this season with a list that isn’t cooked after a long long long season.

A 5% squad improvement relative to the rest of the comp is all we need.

It all hinges on the contest (not the Seinfeld version).

Fast tacklers are our future.

Gee JHWF, you posted this at 9.40 this morning - that's a little early to be hitting the beers isn't it?

I reckon we should be able to win 8 of our next 10 and be sitting 8-4 at the next bye, close to top 4. That's a beautiful position to be in.

I'm always optimistic but the thing I'm loving most is that we are unearthing our depth and it's looking very satisfactory!

That’s such a pathetic attitude. If the players to coaches felt that way we’d never play in any grand finals at all.

Absolutely piss weak from the same poster as always.

I get where Punts is coming from i really do, its a really tough pill to swallow from the last 2 GF being over in 30mins

I sorta keep to myself these thoughts and try not to be to outspoken on here

I’m already optimistic we can make finals again but very pessimistic we can ever win the final final.

I can certainly envisage a flag for this group and it just finally happening that they overcome it all.

I am not here to shit on Horse but we got the change they needed, either blow the list up or a fresh voice.

The core talent is there.
Rampe needs it to be this year though

But i am still positive we win a flag the next 3-4 years. We should have hope as a fan base

I think we are a better team than last year, it's just not manifesting itself yet because of the injuries.

We could easily be 4-0. We'd be 0-4 last year if we had our current injury list.

There is more substance to how we are playing.

We aren't getting dominated in the centre at the beginning of games, like we were all last season. Heeney seems to be playing a more inside game, which is helping the team but not necessarily resulting in the flashy standout stuff.

Whether by design or necessity due to injuries, giving games and more prominent roles to players like Wicks, Bice, Co Warner, Campbell, Hamling, Ladhams, Hanily, and Cleary has built depth into the team that just wasn't there last year.

As long as we hang in there until the next bye, I think we are as good of a chance as anyone if we can get Gulden, Mills and Papley all back and near their best.

Interesting perspective however a cautionary tale will follow if we fall into the trap of last season and rush back Mills/Papley/Gulden if the side is progressing.

Does that tackling pressure suddenly vanish?

Who knows?!

Sometimes I think it is simple mathematics though.

If we had an injury list like we did at this time last year (i.e. almost no injuries), there would be 7 or 8 players in the reserves who don't deserve to be there.

That depth, along with having a coach who I think 'gets it' and has identified the key issue with our team (the centre of the ground) and is trying to address it, has us really well placed - if we can get these key players back.
