Are we going to see Harry “firing”?Having Harry firing on all cylinders and back to his best will make a massive difference.
Yes it really should be a comfortable Blues win and the Roos are gettable the following week as well.
the obvious thing is he's too light to stop players moving at pace, he's shrugged off too easily.Arguably best on ground for Carlton last week. Ease up. 2 goals. 20 touches and kept Bobby hill quiet.
He’s still a pup. I’d rather him get shrugged off making an attempt than not. We’ve got more than a few who don’t do either.the obvious thing is he's too light to stop players moving at pace, he's shrugged off too easily.
agree with you though, his performance outside the 'big mistakes' has been good and his effort puts a number of our other players to shame
I’m guessing you haven’t?Really you would start Ollie? Have you seen a match this season?

No doubt there will be plenty of complaining either wayIt’s a bit of a “no win” situation this week. We win and it’s expected. We lose and it’s a disaster
Next 4 games of WCE, North, Geelong, Crows will tell us exactly where we are at and what needs to happening from there (hopefully)
Ollie is a defensive liability.Ollie shut down Bobby hill while also getting 20 touches and kicking 2 goals
Aren’t we one of the best defences in the comp currently? We are doing that while Ollie is shutting down Dylan Moore and Bobby HillOllie is a defensive liability.
He’s a natural winger - why we’ve tried to turn him into a HBF is beyond me.
What we lose in transition we lose more in defensive frailty.
Hopefully he lines up back where he does his best work.
TEAM defence!Aren’t we one of the best defences in the comp currently? We are doing that while Ollie is shutting down Dylan Moore and Bobby Hill
I’ve never argued against any of that… but he’s getting his job done to a high level. That makes him not a liability. We are also 17th in ball movement, not 18thTEAM defence!
We are the best is the comp at stopping oppo team transition - a feather in our cap.
It’s not just about the back 6 of course.
Using Ollie to shut down oppo forwards comes at the cost of our own transition.
We are the AFL’s worst offensive team in transition!
Ollie time & time again is blown out of contests, turns the ball over in defensive positions.
He’s not a defender.
If you want to waste his run & carry by using him as a defensive tagger, it comes at too high a cost.
That’s why we are;
AFL #1 stopping oppo transition
AFL #18 in our own forward transition
What happens when you turn the ball over so often in transition - you lose!
We need better balance!
Kick an early goal, mates get around him he will feel better, probably a good game to returnAre we going to see Harry “firing”?
I’m a bit nervous about his selection. His form this year has been average. Even in 2s last week he was just okay. This on top of well documented issues that have caused him time off.
I just feel we have rushed him back. Issues he is dealing with don’t go away overnight
17thI’ve never argued against any of that… but he’s getting his job done to a high level. That makes him not a liability. We are also 17th in ball movement, not 18th
Keep moving the goalposts17thawesome.
Let’s play Charlie at HB - no doubt he’d get his job done also.

Hope so but it’s a gambleKick an early goal, mates get around him he will feel better, probably a good game to return
I’m stuck in D50 due to poor transition & endless turnovers - need to bring them closer…Keep moving the goalposts

Problem is, we are too defensive, back and especially forward. We don't have an attacking plan when going forward. Best defensive side that doesn't score makes us pretty easy to beat. Too predictable when trying to score. Charlie, Kemp, Harry or bust. As a back man in an opposition team, why would I worry about Doc, Fog, Motlop, Cottrell or Williams scoring goals, might snag one every now and then.Aren’t we one of the best defences in the comp currently? We are doing that while Ollie is shutting down Dylan Moore and Bobby Hill
Don’t disagree but why should we need reinvigoration?Really looking forward to this game.
As Bartel said, the trip to Adelaide should reinvigorate the boys with a well needed change and a good opportunity to bond and rekindle their love for one another
and lets hope they dont get too carried over along with the coutieireries getting hammered on wine![]()

This line is why I've suggested a couple of times now that we shouldn't be surprised to see a few trade requests at the end of the year. It's the same thing Voss did back at the Lions resulting in purging kids every year, and ultimately the go home 5. We've been fortunate we're a big club in Melbourne so you don't normally get kids asking to leave, but I think we could be about to.This is an example of how the club ruins players development. In then out, out then sub, in then subbed off…just terrible. I actually feel sorry for the bloke. Meanwhile Doc and Gov and Williams are gifted games week in week out. There is a reason we have barely had any success for 25 years. We are an absolute rabble.
Yeah I dont know - and unfortunately it seems the club doesnt know whats going on either with the unexpected poor performances so far this year and also the tail end of last season.Don’t disagree but why should we need reinvigoration?
Every week there are good reasons we should do well but we never do. This is nearly 12 months of poor performances and we are something like 250 days without a win
I am really tired of the same crap yet expecting things to change. Until I actually see it happen I don’t trust this group anymore
I disagree. Cannot imagine any complaining at all, no matter whether we win our next four. Or lose them all.No doubt there will be plenty of complaining either way.
He is still crazy Voss - hasnt changed at all even after spending 10 years at port as an assistant. This line is why I've suggested a couple of times now that we shouldn't be surprised to see a few trade requests at the end of the year. Watching vets time after time put up poor efforts get selected and backed to the hilt, while the kids and inexperienced guys get 1 game, maybe 1.5 qtrs as sub, and get immediately dropped. I hate the practice of picking kids for 1 game, let alone as the sub and then dropped. If you're only going to pick them for 1 game, don't pick them. At worst they need 2. But no, Voss will repeatedly give them 1 game, and drop them while senior heads get another go round.
Don't be surprised a few, Moir for example, request a trade if Voss is still around. It's what happened in Brisbane and he's doing the same here.
