I’d put my hand up to campaign for support at games for him if it ever was on the agenda. Hand out flyers or whatever.

He’d shit the vote in for a board seat with the rank and file behind him.

What do you mean by 'hysterical babies'? There are some on here that have been EXTREMELY patient (including myself). Get off your high horse.

The team just got smashed by 13 goals and you're taking shots at people expressing concern about the leadership of the footy club? If we can't be critical (especially those that weren't at the beginning) then that is a piss weak mentality and epitomises what a soft organisation this club and its supporters have become.

Time to harden the **** up. No more spitting on the jumper and pushing supporters to breaking point. Not good enough.

Sonja will judge the team's improvement in the context of reasonable expectations (which I specified), rather than being bullied into making emotional, impulsive decisions.

If you don't accept that, you are entitled to make a challenge for her position. Good luck.

I seriously don't think expecting to be competitive against a Carlton side that started the season 0-4 is wishing for miracles.

The issue we face is that even with a new president coming in from 2022 and fresh ideas from a board who landed Clarkson, the team still performs the same way it did in 2020.
That was 5 years ago.

Say what you want about list turnover, assistant coaches, Clarkson’s issues, etc - the side still performs to the same level it did 5 years ago.

This is why no one is safe.
There has not been a noticeable and permanent improvement in results at all.

Which is why if we don’t see 6-8 wins and a percentage above 87 come August - these people running the club will fall on their sword.

You can only ask they give it a crack and I commend those in charge for giving it a go - but how embarrassing that after all this time and 6 seasons later, the team did not improve whatsoever.

The players are soft. I look at the club and I can see, from the admin side of the club, who is soft.

Clarkson is presenting as soft. I dont think he’s soft. The assistants aren’t soft, they’re inept.

Todd isnt soft.

The Board. They’re all business marketing types with a sprinkle of lawyers. All of these including Sonja, are not going to have the balls to stand up and hold the football department accountable. Do they have any idea how to direct the football department? Or are they only good at employing mindfulness mentors? (Reading that reeks of Sonjas board decisions) and the fiscal and ethical departments? I bet they’re all really good at sending emails.

I’d take an all up bet, they’re relying on the input from Alistair and Todd and they can simply use fudged numbers to pull the wool over the eyes “improvement isn’t linear”.

The one footballing person on that board is Andrew Swallow who is allegedly living in Sydney. How is that supposed to work? Is he watching games live? Is he in the rooms? Does he have the gaul to stand up and demand better from the football department?

Look at successful clubs, who is our Brendan Gale? Neale Balm? Craig Kelly? You think these types would sit back and give a shit about mindfulness? Give players cuddles? Not hold coaches to the highest levels of accountability? Viney is Clarksons mate, he isn’t going to hold him to the level of scrutiny needed.

If by the bye round, this shit, us the stake holders continue witnessing, then Sonja needs to step down. Jenn can go too and we need an actual footballing person as CEO, whats Swanny doing? And punter to take the Chair position.


Note: Im giving the only real Dr on our board a pass from scrutiny.

So 2023 and 2024 where we went backwards was an improvement. It’s the longest and slowest rebuild in history and we’re officially the worst side in AFL history. How dare people be negative!!

Sonja has been a strong leader off the field — bringing commercial respect, social credibility, and genuine heart to North Melbourne. She’s created stability when we desperately needed it. No question.

But footy isn’t a government department — and the football side of the club is failing.

We lost both practice matches, including a thumping by an undermanned Melbourne. We’re now 1–5 in the season proper, with a percentage of 72%, and have conceded over 100 points in 5 of 6 games — plus in the practice match, even with a howling wind that should’ve made that almost impossible.

This isn’t new. It’s the same pattern. The same results.

We’re 25% into the season and being told the marker of success is “being in games at three-quarter time”? That’s not elite standards. That’s survival mode.

And where is the board in all this?

None have succeeded in high-performance sporting environments. The board member responsible for football — Andrew Swallow — lives 1,000km away. The gap between our performance and accountability has never looked wider.

It’s not personal. Sonja has done what she was brought in to do. But to lead us forward, this club needs ruthless focus on football performance. The next three years must be about winning games.

If the board isn’t asking the hard questions now, when will they?

What does this mean precisely?
Challenge them on the markers they have put in place, they are wishy washy and provide too many outs IMO.

Challenge them on the standards and values they are living - never heard him say believe me no stone is left being unturned to work through this - just it the rhetoric we are on the right path. If he felt he was leaving no stone unturned it would come out of his mouth I have no doubt.

Ask them why the improvement we are expecting is supposed to be just incremental while we watch Richmond show so much spirit and fight and immediate progress - where have we seen out team over four quarters defend at pace and with unwavering commitment - I cannot remember a game.

Challenge Clarko, and I have this on authority, on the fact he said the place was such a mess it will take longer to fix? WTF, get on with it and up the ante on your effort then.

Get clarity on the areas we are aiming to become elite at and how does that fit in to the long term plan and the impacts that has on other areas of the game, performance, outcomes right now.

Challenge them on what is keeping them up at night and what resources are required outside of the current environment.

How is their mindset and Leadership program working - is a 3 man Leadership system a great idea when you need to create a critical mass of Leaders and give them the opportunity to own the football club as a collective?

Ask him how does he expect the team to exceed expectations when all we seem to hear them talk about is meeting expectations rather than demanding work toward being the absolute best?

What are you shithouse at right now that might require external help. Honest conversations identify skill deficiencies and this can be rectified.

What levers need to be pulled internally to create greater synergy between the lines. Because it's not working right now.

What do you see us needing to be better quicker - more training time with the Lads, increases to the soft cap, more draft picks - what do we need to fight for for you to make this happen and stand up for it - show the entire Club we are serious about getting there faster than anyone imagines.

Finally, what are the not negotiables the Board, fans and the players should expect from this group so this can be communicated and we can be all in for the ride forward.
