Nash on Miers

Nash's hit was at a ball flying around in a pack. Careless? Yes. Intentional no. Smith's slap of the ball in Impey's face was deliberate. The AFL has got its priorities wrong. Smith should be suspended, not fined.
In some fantasy comps that'd count as an effective disposal!

Chrisso says nothing in it. Understandably so.
The crazy part is dropping your knee like that 20 years ago was an automatic suspension. Yet with all the concussion awareness it is now nothing

I like Nash, and I want to believe this wasn't intentional, but his arm was never aligned with a body hit to begin with. I think they'll grade it reckless, but I also think that's incorrect.
Brain fade- happens to the best of them. He seems a decent player/person so it’s bad luck for him but worse for Miers.

3-4 weeks is about right and fits the grading.

Miers has entered the standard 12 day concussion protocols, so I feel pointing out that he is going to miss 2 games (instead of the "regular" 1) is just a fixturing thing because Cats/Hawks had a marquee game on a Monday, rather than a "make Nash's penalty worse" thing, should be treated like any other hit that results in a concussion.

It was 3 weeks about a month ago. Hard to imagine it gets anything different.

4 weeks seems right it’s a bit worse than the after one as his one the bloke played on. It won’t be 6 weeks or something. In between the two is where it should land

The question is whether the AFL go for 5 initially to allow the possibility of decrease to 4.

Or 4 with the possibility of decrease to 3.

I'm happy with 3.
I'd live if it was 4.
I'd be pretty angry if it was 5.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they ask for 5-6 and that could be right, Hawks will ask for 3, think it ends a solid 4 weeker and both sides are somewhat okay with it.

FootyLad0 Here's the 2025 table

edit: it is automatically classed as severe as he was concussed

Going by that table he gets 4 possibly argued to 3 if they can get it to careless.

Also going by that table Smith should have gotten a week for the Impey incident as it was intentional, low impact and high, so honestly who knows what the tribunal will pull out.

MRO has only put it up as careless

Not true as Smith's two incidents are both under the Fixed financial sanction section.

Obscene gestures for giving the crowd the bird and misconduct for the football. Throwing the football is not under any of the classifiable offences attracting suspensions.

Your imagination is letting you down as 4 is the likely outcome with 5 excessive but with head concussions becoming such a huge issue that it's not out of the realms and with 3 highly unlikely.

What is the difference between this and the Scrimshaw hit which was 3 weeks? Other than it being someone from your team.

A longer sentence probably helps the Hawks. Gets Hustwaite in and a hack out.
We won't lose out in clearances. Hustwaite is a beast in that area, leads the VFL in that stat by miles so far. Not as physical as Nash though which we will miss. It's likely Finn McGuiness gets a call up if we need a defensive mid or a tagger.
