Wow, ok, they really did completely wipe the points. Now im very interested to see what impact it has this year.View attachment 2293250
No. Our current picks after the 1st would be 28, 40 and 46. 877 points. Note that there's a 10% discount on bids from selection 1 to 18 followed by an 84-point deduction (being 10% of selection 18) for all bids from selection 19 to 36.
With the discount, the highest bid our picks after the first can match alone would be 15. If we pull the finger out at some point this season, might be closer to the 700 point range.
Our second round pick can be downgraded for 2 thirds and gaining extra points.
Also we maybe to get the Demons third round.
That’s most likely enough for Whan, Hart, and another NGA.

This is nearly impossible to predict but it's worth remembering that points will apply to whatever picks we have at the time the bid is made.View attachment 2293250

Someone else has already mentioned that under the new system, we have 877 points from our 2nd and 2 x 3rds (28 + 40 + 46). Which is cover for 975 points (pick 15). You mentioned 1700 in another post and then said "yes" when asked if it was the updated values. We should be right for Whan based on current rankings, but if he rises into the top 10-15 then we may have a problem.
Pick 28 by itself only covers a bid at pick 26. If it gets to 28 and no bids on Whan, then 40+46 will cover a bid at pick 32. We could consider trading 28 into the 2026 draft for Robinson points (and risk a slight deficit from a 29-31 Whan bid, or maybe we acquire an extra pick in the 40's).
I'm not even thinking about our other 2025 NGA's, that could be an additional issue and we really need them to go late or unbid.
Melbourne don't have a 2025 3rd that we can use. Their early 3rd is with Adelaide, and they have another one from Brisbane which is essentially worthless for points.
If Robinson is top 5 in 2026, then we need something like 29 + 31 + 33 + 35. We need to find 3 of these from somewhere.
Remember that Brisband and GC were rorting a different system and were also trading out 1sts for a bunch of points. We would be trading out 1sts for Pickett.
Under some reasonable assumptions of ladder positions and draft rankings and salary, it will be extremely hard to pull off Pickett + Whan + Robinson without trading out players with some currency. Switta has been mentioned by many for good reason.

Melbourne not having their 3rd this year makes it hard, would need to try and get their second somehow, or we trade out other players to get the points we need. This website has the indicative order and updated pick values:

Are there any underagers? They do prioritise over-agers and the current draft crop more than they used toWA Under-18 Squad

No Robinson in there! Rodriguez is the one, he'll go Top 10 I reckon
A lot of water under the bridge but Robinson non selection says not a first round pick.WA Under-18 Squad

People need to chill out. His draft year is next year. He's basically playing one year ahead of his cohort. Not really. He suffered a head knock in the pre-season and missed the start of the season. He has been eased back and has only played 1 colts game (24 and 2 goals). They aren't going to rush him into the team now with trial games coming up in May.
He has been named as a train-on with the squad, so he will be amongst it. Maybe he gets added to the main squad later (e.g. someone gets injured) for the champs in June.
Yeah for sure.Yeah and you got two experienced and damaging players that you won't get from the draft. No brainer. Imagine if they weren't in our team!
Erasmus only kicked 4 goals in his underage year and they were all in the grand final. He had 0 at the same point in his career. Surely you don't mean PSA goals who cares how many of those he kicked.I am still not sold on Robinson as a top pick because of his kicking, but there is a bit of time I guess and good to see him get some goals. Again, tackling numbers is up there in KPIs for him and just want to see him have intensity all game. Compared to Erasmus at the same point, I think I would have Erasmus higher - he was kicking more goals at the same point in his underage year and just running harder.
Nothing is assured in drafting, but Rodriguez makes a lot of sense for the Eagles. He is clearly about the rest in terms of professionalism, and he has a good all-round game that suits a variety of roles.
Robinson is part of the squad as a train-on, shouldn't have any issue making the final squad tbhA lot of water under the bridge but Robinson non selection says not a first round pick.
In the end, its the best result for everyone. This is way worse for West Coast than it is for us. Let's get Kozzie in and restructure Jackson so that we are all in on Warner in 2 years
I don't think it's a bad result for anyone, West Coast included. This is way worse for West Coast than it is for us. Let's get Kozzie in and restructure Jackson so that we are all in on Warner in 2 years
