It was an improved effort, but let's not kid ourselves, Brisbane didn't get out of third gear.
We didn't let them get out of third gear.Actually disagree here. I think I stated in the team selection thread, I thought the lions would play in 3rd gear. They would get out to a 5 goal lead, and it would hover around that for the game, maybe we got as close as 3 goals, they would blow it out to 7 goals, arms length stuff. They would muck around with it, and we would get some goals that way.
But I don’t think they played in 3rd gear at all, they just weren’t allowed to play their style. Neale was busting his arse to get involved, and we weren’t allowing it. Listening to the 2nd half on the radio after the missus kicked me outside, all you heard was Roos players. Seemed like they only had 10 blokes out there, we were all over them.
No doubt they wouldn’t have gone into the game with the same mindset as if they were playing a Collingwood or a Hawthorn, but both teams were having a red hot crack in that last quarter. Check out Harris Andrews on the Darling mark, or when he got done holding the ball. He was furious. Our work rate was so good that Brisbane didn’t even look like scoring at the end, apart from a great individual mark from Rayner that come out of no where, and a free kick we haven’t seen paid since Auskick days.
As I stated pre game, I thought it would be a false hope game. Lose by 4 goals, pat ourselves on the back, and actually still be no where near it. But that game was not that. We were all over a very good team, and our blokes didn’t look in the mood for back patting after it, they looked disappointed. Exactly how it should be heading into this weekends game.
Said exactly the same things, that was the winner right there. He gives that handball, Stephens wouldn't need to pass it, he would have scored himself. Even a point is enough.

Yes indeed. If it was him with the ball in hand, with Konstanty just ahead of him (rather than the other way around) with 35 seconds to go, we would have won the game.Love him and has a football brain!
Don't piss on my back and tell me your Aunty has balls. It’s a Paganism
In some ways a draw is the only honorable loss there is.WB, * , Port and now Bris were all within our grasp. Probably should’ve been wins with team composure.
Adelaide and suns we were in it for a long time.
Few blowouts.
When you look at it like that- we must be improving even though it doesn’t feel like it at times.
At least yesterday wasn’t another “honorable loss”.
I would love to have him as an assistant or strategy/opposition analyst etcThe feeling is not mutual.
You trying to say they're happy about it?I dunno if I was a Brisbane supporter I'd be pretty bummed
Dammit should've read ahead. Micky never misses a crumbing opportunity.Whatever one does while watching the footy is their business....
I doubt they’d care They’ll move on quicker than we will. As spoilt for wins as they areYou trying to say they're happy about it?
After putting our noses in front too. Felt like we had a bit of control then we switched offThis is the game....This is what we need to shake out of our game.
4 in a row
Or the two Larkey sitters or the two Duursma sitters or the Konstanty sitter or the Wardlaw humungous miss that got nothing etc etc. Had plenty of opportunity and we were all over them. That was brutal but it was others that kept us behind when we should have been 3 up.Said exactly the same things, that was the winner right there.
I thought Stephens was the softest player in the comp???Clarko dominated Fagan.
We completely dismantled their ball movement and forced often rushed entries which our defenders defended very well.
Our forward line with 3 talks didn’t function until we subbed one.
Powell has to be the softest player in the comp. McKercher a close second.
Loved angry Clarko in the box. I feel we aren’t that far off now.
Certainly one of his more convoluted metaphors.Don't piss on my back and tell me your Aunty has balls.
I don't have a problem with him either. Has done his time more than most transgressors in the AFL landscape.I would love to have him as an assistant or strategy/opposition analyst etc
You trying to say they're happy about it?
We are very lucky Wardlaw is the worst kick of the football to ever play the game
Yet still more accurate than the Brownlow.I've really stopped paying a lot of attention to the coaches votes tbh. Not because of Powell/Jy, but just seeing the way coaches across the league approach them. McRae for example gives Naicos votes no matter how poorly he plays. It's all a bit of a furphy.
