Hard to get a read on this one.

On paper I believe Melbourne should be rated far higher than they are on the ladder, also who knows if they gain confidence after the Brisbane victory last weekend.

The nightmare matchup for us this weekend is Pickett, I really don't see a natural match up for us especially with Cunningham on the sideline.

Simply has to be Wicks for Pickett

Midfield mix for both teams will be interesting, if Pettaca gets the tag from Jordan and Oliver runs with either Warner or Heeney.
I fancy our mids to get on top if we can shut Petracca down.
It’s been mentioned by must avoid Gawn in long kicking situations at all costs, he’s the best down the line mark in the comp and when it’s consistently an intercept contested mark it just changes the game so quickly.
I think patience leaving the D50 will be key. Switching to the non Gawn side important, or alternatively look for shorter options.

There is no other option.

My worry with this match up is Wicks running off the other way, or when Pickett moves up into the midfield.
Wicks shouldn't run off the other way unless absolutely necessary then.

If you're assigned lockdown duties, that's your main job.

JJ to tag whoever the priority is in midfield, we shouldn't try and run with everyone.

Who would they put on Heeney &/or Warner?

Oliver has been doing run-with roles the last few weeks since Viney got hurt because Viney was doing those roles. I wouldn't be surprised if they sat on both Warner and Heeney but you couldn't really put Oliver on Warner because he'll motor away from him - but then Viney would have the same problem with Warner I imagine. Plus Heeney would love either match up if he managed to drag them forward. So I don't reckon Melbourne would love those match-ups but they might have to go with it.

Cox all but confirming that Mills will be in the team. I would have preferred another week in the VFL but McInerney’s suspension forced this decision. If Adams didn’t know where he already sat in the pecking order, he does now. Probably still likely to get a gig as well but Mills in front of him despite the lack of conditioning would be humbling.

If Mills is in, it's desperation rather than being comfortable he's ready. I don't think we're forced into it, there's alternatives, we're choosing not to hold to a standard.

Have to assume he's not sub, so...

Out: Amartey Francis Jmac
In: Mills Buller* Florent
Sub: Adams

*95% sure we'll just bring McLean back in.

I'd stick Mills forward to do the Hamling defensive role on Lever (if playing) or May. Decent kick for goal too.

Hamling to defence. Rampe can then play on one of Fritsch or Melksham.

Pretty sure Clarrie was simply going head-to-head with Lachie Neale on the weekend and not actually tagging him.

Really sad that Oliver is now a “motor away from” guy. Watched him at Homebush against the giants a few years back and he was one of the most impressive runners I remember seeing.

I remember a game he played in (I think) 2021 against Adelaide in Adelaide and it was one of the best individual games I've ever seen from a player. Start to finish, utterly dominant and as you say, showing great endurance and power all over the ground. He must've had like 40 touches, 15 clearances, and 3 goals or something similar. He's a shell of that player now.

There is plenty of vision and good on them , don't know what there issue is
North's Sheezel said today they can have a drink if it's a 7 plus day break , but not after a 6 day break
Having a can is not a criminal offence

Back in the day it was a done thing, but with the game being so professional it is today I wouldn't think too many players drink during the season. I could be wrong.
