I'm cool with Adams playing as a forward so long as the other forwards have the speed to cover him.

He can get torched on the counter, but I think his defensive work at forward stoppages is undervalued. It was directly responsible for a lot of goals last year, including the match-winner against the Pies from memory.

I actually think he's one of the best players in the league at that. Seriously impressive how consistently he manages to take 2 defenders out of the play so our more damaging players can go to work.

Didn't have Cleary, Campbell forward last year (aside from 2 games, and Cleary's pressure helped against the Pies too).

Personally I'm putting Mills forward for a couple of weeks if we're playing him this soon. He can lock onto an interceptor and do that defensive work at stoppages too.

I'm still hoping Mills is sub as unlikely as it probably is, but agree that lockdown forward would be a good role for him on return.

Also a good point with Campbell and Cleary. Adams was also pretty good until Parker came back last year IMO. I think it would be a great idea to have him do some work with Cleary on blocking and clearing space at forward stoppages.

I can, Sydney want to replace the talls with 2 talls, Snell isn't ready, Edwards is injured thus they need 2 tall forwards and Buller is second in line.

Or they believe that McLean needs more time and thus Buller gets a go
How dare you go off topic on the beer thread

I think if he's in the 23, he's in the 22.

Doesn't really make sense to bring him in, and not get match fit in VFL, to then play him as sub, where he might only get a quarter.

I have a higher standard about off field behaviour than some, but I do not give a crap if players are having a few beers after a game or even socially, as long as they are abiding by team rules.

My only personal objection is that beer is awful.
I haven’t drunk beer since I was 18, got pissed on my first serious drinking session (16 Pots) at my local footy club threw up on a women’s shoe, haven’t been able touch the stuff since, but do love a nice scotch.

Out: JMac Francis Amartey Co Warner
In: Mills Buller McLean Adams

Would think the sub could change but do you give it to like a Bice or something to provide a spark or do you give another reality check to a senior and chuck Lloyd the vest

Of all weeks these two (this week and next) are not the ones to be making statements. I can’t stand LLoyd being in but we will need him with JMac out. No to Bice being sub let him learn on the MCG and we do not need both McLean/Buller we barely need one.

Never know we might go 1 game soon lol
Did at least 1.5 with Adams and off a shorter break from playing.

Selective standards.

I love Fox and he's usually one of the fittest in the squad, but he needs to do a few games in VFL first, before coming in to sort this lot out.

They all should need at least one FULL game not before then if they are out for more than 4 weeks

In all seriousness, drink responsibly folks.

My favourite beverage is actually grapefruit juice anyway. All the bitterness of beer but without any of the health risks. (Well, except for one of my good mates who is violently allergic to grapefruits.)

Well said.

Kids - don’t drink to excess, lest you end up dancing like Elaine from Seinfeld in front of 50,000 people at Optus Stadium.

I can’t see any scenario under which Buller comes in.
This is probably a reach but Mills, Adams and Buller were all featured in the first few pics from training so perhaps they’re genuinely mulling it over. If Cox is trying to send a message to the playing group about selecting on form then bringing McLean back after his woeful performance in the VFL last week flies directly in the face of that.
