Cook supports Voss and stability. Wright may well be another issue?
Hope so.
Getting in new players and coaching them the same way will not get us different results.

We have holes in our list and some average players but how many are playing anywhere near their best on a consistent basis?

Do people seriously believe we are getting anywhere near the best from this side?

I said it Rd one. Sides pick us apart. We rely on individual talent over any system. We are poorly drilled

We are slow and keep picking a tall side?

It’s the same things all the time yet nothing changes

Makes it hard to have Hope
So soap what your saying is we don’t have a coaching group that is with the modern ‘team’ first game plan.

We’ve said this for years.

It’s time.

Weitering is part of the problem. Picks and chooses depending on who is playing down back.
Our issues with leaders are endemic.

IMO it goes back to when this group were just starting the club did not put any experienced players from other clubs who’d had team success to help them through the growing pains of learning how to develop winning habits at the highest level. Instead their senior leaders and role models were guys like Murphy, Gibbs and Simpson - all fine players in their own right - but none of whom had any real team success.

The most concerning part is the club appears to be backing in Voss despite below average performances over a period of time.

This is the part I'm ok with. I don't think Voss, this system and these players are working or will work. Some subtle changes and a mini rebuild and I'm willing to give it another few years.

No point going the full rebuild, we have to take the Geelong approach, and retire older players and discard those that are sub par or poor effort. Dare I say it, No Passengers.
We have some good young blokes coming through, time to stop rewarding inconsistent conditional players.

Curnow plays right up the game all first quater , often very deep back . . Provides a target kicks 2 goals and opens up the forward line . I think we are finally trying something different. I like this .
Then it stops ! Why ?
It’s a good question, and one that many of us would like to know, i don’t think any explanation would be warranted…

Great post - leadership is developed though positive experiences and best practice. Very little of that observed in the past 25 years.

Maybe we should review who’s dumb ass decision it was to move Hollands (back) and Docherty (fwd) at half time.

Hollands was dangerous, offering pressure and doing a good job on Whitfield.

We’re a poorly ran football club (football wise) from the board, to the (bottom of the barrel) head of football, coaching group and list group.
When CFC elect a President who doesn't reside in the same State, you've got a problem...

That aside, today was just more of the same - lazy, average skills and shocking, amateur level decision making....

A poor, poor effort given who GWS was missing....

It's in their heads largely.

But today was another unacceptable loss.

We opened the window a little after the Geelong game, then closed it firmly after it got a bit chilly.

The iron irony is Geelong just keep on keeping on. The gap between their players best and worst, quarter to quarter, week to week, is minimal. The opposite is true at Carlton where the players performances go up and down like a yo yo from quarter to quarter and week to week. I’ve said it a few times over the years that watching this current Carlton team play is like watching a drunk person drive a car.

Curnow shits me to tears. Just superhero efforts only, never any grit or toughness or willingness to sacrifice for anyone else. Does not do the percentage thing ever.

Sometimes I wonder if anyone actually says anything to him or if he’s “bigger than the Club” in that sense.

Pretty sure at Carlton, they spell it ‘teaim’

Won the disposals, inside 50s, clearances and free kicks, yet done by 5 goals. This mob is BOG average. Voss won’t last beyond this year and we have given up our 1R pick, needing instead to rely on the TDK compo pick. Can only hope we pick up at least one half decent player in the MSD.
Any “soft kills” coming up will just be a temporary bs bandaid.

HARD - everything is just so hard for Carlton.

We never seem to get an easy goal (or rarely).
We never get an easy win (unless a WC or North).
The season is a slog as we never win enough to comfortably sit in the Top Eight.

Thinking back - even our two finals wins were hard - 30 odd points up on the Swans and saved by a Nick Newman mark in the dying seconds. Melbourne win - well enough said - epic but hard.

What is that ? Why ?

I really like White Lord Carroll O’Farrell Wilson HOK etc

We have some good young talent.

My concern is them playing under our structure and culture. We aren’t a great club for development
Good & bad culture is such a crock.
You win and the culture is 1st class.
Lose and there’s a poor culture. Losing vs winning is the ingredient of culture.

Sure no club has a bad culture at AFL level but searching for ingredient to boost their form on the paddock (other than HFC who are full of smart a* flogs).

Unless you’ve got players (or staff) undermining the program, clubs aren’t imploding on bad culture.
